When I was a teen I used to ride my bike or have my mom drop me off at the mall and I'd hang out with friends there most of the day. Now 20+ years later I'm finding myself doing the same thing albeit only for a couple hours and pushing a stroller with Peet's in my hand. And yes, I'd buy something on occasion.

first thing i do when i walk into a hotel room - I disassemble the bed down to the mattress and put the top sheet back on according to these instructions. what's the polite way to let the staff know not to tuck EVERYTHING under the bed - just the one sheet is fine?

Other than finding other speakers to mount on the wall, I wouldn't change anything else. It's obviously made with love - the gag-ball, body harness, butt plug, shibari kind of love, but love nonetheless.

I purchased an iBuypower preconfigured with an i7 processor, 4gb ram, Win7, and a 1gb nvidia video from Newegg on black Friday for $800. I usually roll my own systems, so let me tell you about my problems with my iBuypower system... NONE. I'm happily surprised with my system, because I expected it to come all the problems you mentioned. Maybe it's because I bought it preconfigured, but I would recommend it to anyone who wants the most bang for their buck.

Nice home. Media center is fab, esp. that clock. What I don't dig, however, are the depot special in-wall white speaker grills. With all the care it took to curate the home, I'm surprised they aren't better integrated.

The Airport Express is limited to 16-bit/44.1khz audio out of it's optical jack, so getting an expensive 24/96 DAC will do you very little good. iTunes (the only software that will will stream your music to the Express, doesn't even support 24/96 audio). If your receiver accepts optical in, I would skip the separate DAC all together and plug the optical cable straight into your receiver - your file will play "bit perfect'. But then if you're an audiophile and want to stream 24/96, then I question why you would use an Airport Express in the first place, and not something like a Linn streamer.

Sometimes, no matter how low your volume is, the low frequency kick from your sub can be heard through walls and floors. The lower the frequency, the more power needs to goto the sub, the more it is heard and felt. Unfortunately, that gets the surfaces of your home vibrating as well, acting like a huge resonating chamber that will actually sound louder in the room next door than the room you are in.

There are a few steps you can take if you want the sound of a big sub (like that SVS above) but minimize annoyance. One is to do the sub crawl to find the best place for it. That way your sub will be more efficient, and you won't need as much power to get better punch. Next, you may want to "decouple" the sub from the floor. If vibrations from the sub can't get to the floor, the they won't telegraph through. I bought and use an Auralex Subdude to get this done.

Not to say that you'll be able to crank your music without annoying your neighbors; given enough energy no measures will be effective. However this should raise that threshold for you quite a bit.

The only two I would KEEP is the cell phone and the internet connection for matters of necessity. When you're laid off and looking for work, or even looking to exploit your free time to your own benefit, the cell phone and internet keep you in touch with the world. In times of desperation, they are crucial tools for CREATING work, while everything else is entertainment.

looks nothing like the Eames Lounge Chair. The base is different, the upholstery is different, the proportions are different... it's a very nice chair unto itself.

I spend about $100 tip for a good, deep, one hour massage where I live, and treat myself to this treat about 4 times a year. My wife does the same, maybe 6 times a year. Tally that up and we end up spending quite a bit at the masseuse.

Yes, $4k is a lot of money, but If I had the space to hide it (it's fugly) and the coin to drop I would get it, especially with a good warranty.

FYI - the best, seriously deep, massage I've ever had was at Qimantra in Singapore.
