I actually live a block away from there. I walk by the second one every day and I hate it because if you are walking west, you can see right into it. I always wonder why they designed it that way--if you were having a barbecue back there would you want to see right onto the sidewalk?

Wow! Props for Domino, everyone seems to agree it is the best American mag. However best overall for me is by far World of Interiors(even though generally I'm not trying to emulate that look in my own home). It's just such a gorgeous book to look at and read almost like going to a museum, a real pleasure when it comes each month.

I work for a furniture designer and he's really picky about how we photograph things, because sometimes they unintentionally turn out weird. He calls them "scene of the crime" photos.

You can get cute scissors like that at Ochre on broome street. I've been wanting to get some for a while now for my Aerogarden.

I have a swiffer vaccum, usually once a day right after cooking dinner I just do a quick once over the whole ktichen with it. And about once a week I use a "Wet Swiffer" pad to mop it down.

Lisa - It's not grass, it's a sconce hand-made from dyed coconut shell shreds. It's fabulous, they sell them in white as well and in several variations.

I've read from a chair maker's blog that "Real Milk Paint" (www.realmilkpaint.com) is actually a better quality product than "Old Fashioned Milk Paint." Also, both companies sell their own binding product to mix in with the pigment, so you probably don't have to use cheese. I really want to try painting a few of my chairs with a mix of light gray milk paint--just a few light coats and then lightly sanded down to let some of the grain come back through. And then you can rub it (and sort of burnish) with a coat of linseed oil or wax which produces that very smooth hardened on look which might better for chairs that get lots of wear and tear... Has anyone got an experience with this?

This is probably actually a great step forward because I'm pretty sure everyone thinks traditional martini glasses are horrible to drink from!! (some bartenders only serve martini's in tumblers because they are so difficult)

This list seems kind of trite to me. It basically just lists America's largest cities, including LA (with the disclaimer that many people don't know how walkable their city actually is?) Any city no matter how large or small is walkable if you move to a neighborhood with close conveniences (grocery, laundry, restaurants etc) as apposed to living out in the suburbs...

That Bridge adjustable wall night is really nice. But those last two lamps are so gross!! They look like a sophomore Industrial Design student drawing. Who designed this stuff?

My favorite part of the Bunny Williams article: "One of her first pieces of advice is to browse the high end auction houses, and she is not shattered to hear that my preferred furniture outlets are thrifts. “If you look at the best it helps you buy better at the 26th Street flea market,” she says."

So true! Taking time to look at all sorts of things from high end to low end, traditional to modern, etc etc is what makes for a great eye.
