"Screw the gorgeous kitchen, more pics of shirtless contractors, plz kthx. "

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this.

I'm not a huge fan of all white spaces either, despite that I really like this home as it seems to still be comfortable despite the sterile white look.

What I'm really wondering is how much they spent on that cantilevered cowhide chair if it cost more than their subzero or Platner set... although I suppose it's just their biggest "indulgence", not their big ticket item. Anyone recognize the chair?

"Unless you have a single-walled kitchen, aren't three points (fridge, sink, stove) always going to make a triangle?"

That really did crack me up.

And yes, the point is to have a certain distance. I've read a few books on space planning (text books) and have found that the number differ slightly, but they more or less tend to stick to: perimeter of triangle not exceeding 20'-25', and no traffic path going through the triangle. There's a lot more that goes into it and a quick search of "kitchen triangle" will bring up more than a few sites with numbers.

"You can also try the "compliment sandwich" where you start with a compliment, then mention where one needs improvement, then end with a compliment. Thank you Family Guy."

I'm an interior design major at an art school and when we critique each others work we're suppose to use the compliment sandwich where you start with a positive feedback, move on to constructive criticism and then end with another positive comment. Usually my critiques go something like: "Yeah, hey, great job on this! ______________ (about 3 minutes of criticism), .. but yeah, good job. I think you worked really hard and it shows". If we don't use this three-step sugar-coating method we actually get docked participation points. I suppose this is the schools way of teaching everyone tact, which is something I could use more of.

GAH! I'm so sad I missed the original post. Although reading the revised post and all the comments is hilarious enough on it's own. "We has 1 friend". Amazing. Will read again. *bookmarked*

Thorndale, I read it as 1970 and didn't realize it was 1790 until your comment. Either way I love the look the kitchen is going for, I don't so much like the layout or the small space it's in.

I don't like the bathroom so much, it's an unpleasant contrast for me.

These should be able to let you see your food in the color they actually are as well, both have a CRI of 100, which really makes buying xenon worth it over fluorescent. However, xenon usually gets ridiculously hot. I would be curious as to what you store in your cabinets and if the lights have had any effect on them.

These colors are the same that I've used in my living room, and I absolutely love, love, love them.

I also like a lot of the art on the wall, although I can do without most of the knick knacks. I think my issue with "over-decorating" stems from hating to dust. HATE dusting. Plus, a bunch of stuff in a space gives me vertigo, but the hate for dusting trumps that.

I use old newspaper on my mirrors/windows with windex, or whatever you use. It leaves a streak free shine and none of that leftover lint you get from towels.

dkzody ... I wasn't being serious, :) but thank you for answering me anyway.

Lori... the best bathroom art I've ever seen was an exit sign above the john, and I believe it was not intentional.

I like the description on the manf. website:

"The best of two worlds. Finally - starting now you no longer need to decide between a tub or shower! Because with the new Artweger TWINLINE you have both: a complete shower AND a bathtub in one. The world first by Artweger: the all-inclusive solution for your bath!"

Finally!... wait... what?

It appears as if I'm the only one who dislikes the first image. It looks like they ran out of funds in middle of the project. What the heck is on the floor? It looks like hand pressed paper you find at art stores.

I would shoot someone for an Aga stove. *sigh*

"We all get that baths waste more water than a shower."

Is this fact or opinion?

All of above being said; I would much rather use bathroom 2 than even considering stepping into bathroom 1, therefore I think it's a wonderful transformation!

"guys - it sounds like the drain works just fine - not leaking. it's the overflow valve/hole is just too far down for taste."

Everyone else seems to have reading comprehension issues :)

Good article. I'm also one of those people who stick their big toe to stop the draining, although I don't take any more baths. My tub is not so appealing. No matter how clean I get it.
