I really relate to this post. I lived alone for many years and had my apartment just the way I wanted it, with my own little quirks and rituals. My friends would often crash for the night and it was no big deal. A week would have been a big deal! My husband and I have been living together for 4 years now, and despite the fact that i love him to pieces, I secretly love when he leaves too! shhhh.. don't tell anyone. I agree that they may just prefer to be hosts and that if you are having a good time, just go with it and be gracious. However, if you have a desire to have them over, I doubt keeping things "even" will entice them. It seems that some people need to always be giving in order to feel accepted and liked. I would suggest phrasing an invite in a way that they would be helping you by coming over to your place. Help! Compulsive Hosts Won't Let Us Invite Them Over Advise the Etiquette Expert |

There is one other issue with putting electronics in drawers or cupboards and that's ventilation. I have over heated and wrecked a modem this way. I didn't want to put a large hole in my cabinet, so we had to always leave the doors open. Clean Up Your Media Center With an IR Repeater |
