I really relate to this post. I lived alone for many years and had my apartment just the way I wanted it, with my own little quirks and rituals. My friends would often crash for the night and it was no big deal. A week would have been a big deal! My husband and I have been living together for 4 years now, and despite the fact that i love him to pieces, I secretly love when he leaves too! shhhh.. don't tell anyone.

When I lived in London, I liked the small fridges. It made me more aware of what I had and made me make more conscious decisions while grocery shopping.

With my big fridge at home now, I forget I have things and buy more and things go bad because I forgot them, or because I had too much.

My sister in-law is nurse and was taught in school that it is more sanitary to let your dishes air dry then to towel dry.

If you need to lay your cutlery down to dry make sure the spoons are facing down so that they don't pool any water and you don't get dried on water spots.

I agree that they may just prefer to be hosts and that if you are having a good time, just go with it and be gracious. However, if you have a desire to have them over, I doubt keeping things "even" will entice them. It seems that some people need to always be giving in order to feel accepted and liked. I would suggest phrasing an invite in a way that they would be helping you by coming over to your place.

Thank you rach, I agree.
I'm not a celebrity chaser and won't buy something just because someone's name is attached to it. I believe something should be judged based on it's merit. That being said, if it's a good cook book, then it's a good cook book and all the haters need to go pop a Valium and ease up a little.

There is one other issue with putting electronics in drawers or cupboards and that's ventilation. I have over heated and wrecked a modem this way. I didn't want to put a large hole in my cabinet, so we had to always leave the doors open.

My dad always had peanut butter on his hot dogs with the usual ketchup, mustard and relish. He would also eat pb and peperoni sandwiches. Us kids just thought he was gross!

Sandy F. - that makes perfect sense to me.

I think the chair looks great. However, I bought poang chairs when I got my first apartment and had to replace them a few years later. They started sitting lower and lower until they were really difficult to get out of. As I get older I want to buy quality items that will save me money in long run.

A snob is a snob, no matter what their passion is. I have come across food snobs, music snobs, art snobs, religious snobs and many more. I have also met people with passions that share these passions with a humble heart and bless the people around them.

This is great.

I have also had the same problems focusing with my 50mm lens. My brother sells canon products (sold me mine) and is also a photographer, suggested that I turn the AF off and try going manual. It took a lot of practice, but it was worth it. I feel much more in control now.
