This is also a quilting design technique. Yay, now I don't have to buy the designer's software.

I just went thrift shopping the other day, taking a rare day for myself. I don't really consider myself a purse person, but I found several designer handbags at 2 of the places I went. I came home with 4 new ones in unusual colors.

Because we're trying to de-clutter our place & to limit the amount of stuff that "someday" we plan to recycle/refinish/repurpose, etc., I didn't bring anything else home. And I found myself looking at things, wondering what someone (else) could make with it or how cool a collection of those crystal or glass candlesticks would look.

Self-control takes a vacation.

I'll bet you could use the smaller box on top for storage. And/or you could cut out the entire side of the box which faces the wall if your box is on the small side and you'd like more air circulation.

Not sure how this would work for me, since I tend to fidget my feet around at my desk! But for other areas in the house, it's great.

I can't think of anywhere in the home where this would look good. Not even the "mud room" since it takes up so much room.

Diluted white glue works, too & it's cheaper. Though I've just purchased my first bottle & will be working with it this weekend.

There are very many different Mod Podges out there. Difficult to choose! Maybe ModPodgeRocks.com has input.

I second the ceiling lights with the added issue of no lights there now. And related to that, what can we do with the open beam ceiling in our 1955 Eichler wannabe? It's been whitewashed & like I said: no ceiling lights other than kitchen/dining area similar to this: www.inmagine.com/iops001/iops001063-photo.

My doily-making skills have languished for several years. It seems such "quaint" items are only appreciated by my mom or other relatives in the upper midwest.

I've got the hooks & I'm not afraid to use them.

I once saw a tv program (ancient days of diy) about someone who had remodeled their Airstream into a studio which they kept in the back yard permanently. Love.

When I was a kid & we'd go camping as a family, I always thought Airstreams were ugly & felt sorry for the people who had them. Then I saw the INSIDE! Whoa. Very nice.

Lonny or Loony?

I put my fabric (not nearly as much as this!--the fat quarters) in clear shoe boxes labeled by color, which I stack on the closet shelf. And some stuff is in a couple of those plastic drawer organizers close to the machine for easy access.

The method pictured above is ok, but perhaps some kind of curtain or something would be good to screen it off. At least in my case, the sewing room is also the guest room.

I've seen & heard about dust mites for years, but I recently saw some tv doctor (oz?) report on bedbugs. Seriously made me discontinue "curb shopping". They are incredibly gross (my skin is crawling right now). They bite you, suck your blood, reproduce like crazy & can hide in the teeniest of cracks. If you have a small group of 3 itchy bites on your legs etc., it is from bedbugs. They're becoming a serious problem in North America right now.

Nice house. Also not crazy about blocking the fireplace. I thought that was a decorating faux pas.

Friends have asked me to make a quilt out of their t-shirt collection, but I think it's pretty tacky. The knit stretchy fabric would not lend itself well to the technique.

I love the ruffles on the pillow & it would look great on an altered wearable. There are several books on the subject.
