I saw a cool idea on an AT post where someone had put their queen-sized bed half in the closet, the bottom half sticking out, and bought hinged closet doors and cut off the bottom third of the doors (so they could open and close with the bed still underneath). The appearance was so that when the doors were closed, they put big couch pillows against the doors on the bed so it looks like a couch, but when they're open, it's a bed! I saved the picture, but I don't remember the link to the post, so here is the picture:

The ones that look like the insides of a saw-ed tree trunk are amazing. I am so impressed by the innovation of artists who come up with beautiful creations like that.

This is wonderful. It really reminds me of the interiors of the newer Sherlock Holmes movie with all the trinkets and knick-knacks and what-have-you's.

I see a lot of these on Craigslist for under $800, which is a pretty good price.

oh man, i am constantly shocked and amazed how people can spend so much money on over glorified processes and treatments.

my boyfriend had a pair of levis that were a bright blue color, he thought they looked too much like, "i work at apple technologies in the 90's", so i mixed a little dark grey dye with a dark navy blue dye and darkened them. the color turned out really lovely and unique, and i wanted to distress them a little to look broken in, so i put them on, sat in a chair and (lightly) took a piece of rough sand paper to the lap creases, the knees and to the hem of the jeans. then, i boiled some black tea in a large pot and soaked the jeans to give a brown tinge to the sanded parts.

he has washed them a number of times since i dyed them, they've faded a bit and they look so dang cool. they're his favorite jeans now, and i fixed them up for under $15.

Cover it with lots of pretty pillows and quilts.

I don't get it. Why has this attracted so much attention? Because their space is cool? Or because they are actors who are hustling to make a dime?

Seems like just a normal space to me. I don't understand what's so remarkable about it!

I think a medium gray or a warm, natural medium green would be nice and calming for when you are laundering. Also, I'd resand the closet doors and stain the natural wood to the color of those lovely dark wood cabinets you have, maybe add some shelving with that same color wood.. I think that wood should be the central theme in the room. And adding a little TV in there would be cute and entertaining. Maybe new hardware for the cabinets and doors, in white (not silver), to go with the washer and dryer. As for storage or laundry baskets, there are plenty of cute and cheap wicker baskets available in the color of the cabinets that are lined with cloth that would be functional in your room. Maybe a couple lamps and plants for personality. And a big area rug! Good luck! You're lucky to have a laundry room!

Oh! And, if your landlord allows you to, you should look into getting different faucet and shower fixtures. Character is all in the details!
