Don't do it, because it is in an old house. You will smell it if you are concerned that you will smell it. Like different breeds of dogs have more power senses of smell, so breeds of humans to too. Obviously it matters to you. So it's not a matter of "grow up" as c said, but your comfort given your senses. Should Smokers Downstairs Be a Deal Breaker? Good Questions |

I really like the bed in the bright yellow and white, just not with the lovely quilt behind it. Do you have another wall where the quilt could go? Then maybe you could use the yellow woman as a foundation to start a wall of art behind the bed. The other colorful painting seems to unbalance the aesthetic a bit. With the quilt, linens, and that picture, all in the same corner, it tips over a bit, so to speak. Love the bed and the sweet linings. They are my favorite part of the room. I think because house is so sparse, has lots of old pieces, and is so ordered, it feels abandoned to me. Yes, that is it, it feels abandoned. Not abandoned in a hurried way, but as if people moved and left the basics. And now it is simply waiting for a gentle breeze to give it breath again. Google is great for lots of things, but is anyone else just a bit concerned about placing so much of your life in the hands of one company? I am a bit, though I do use Goggle's calendar, as well as another web-based one through work. Backing up is essential, but the idea of backing up my photos, documents and more all with one company exclusively just does not seem wise to me. Beautiful rug. To decide on size, you want your rug to go under the sofa legs and under any chairs that are on the sides or opposite the sofa. That's at least what the experts recommend. That way the room feels more unified. What Rug Would You Suggest? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

Your kitchen has good bones. Painting the cabinets a warm cream or someone said blue would be great, but very permanent. To start, instead of painting you could trade out a few of the top cabinet doors for ones with glass, which should be fairly affordable, to open the sense of the space up a bit. Then update the hardware, and see how you like it. Ideas for Refreshing and Renovating this Kitchen on a Budget? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy Boston |

You could make this a large entry room, warm it up with a bit of color on the walls. I'd get rid of the desk unit. Since the room is big, place a large round wooden table in the middle of the floor, and if it's a plain table, draped with a large tablecloth that flows on the floor, topped with things you love (photos, curios, etc.), paint the back of the bookcases to add another spot of color, place a few large plants near the window(s), a couple of sconces, curtains on the windows, and voila, wonderful large first room. You may even have room for a reading corner near that window, with a small side table and upholstered comfy chair. Have fun. What to Do With This Awkward Room? Looks like a comfortable lived-in place, with lots of curios, but I am missing the "decadent" sense too. All the curios and items make me wonder where they are from (travels, store, gifts). Definitely lots to talk about there. Laura's Decadent Haven House Tour | Apartment Therapy New York |
