I'm all for sustainability and great design, but I don't know how I feel about paying $2,400 for a re-designed byproduct.

[shaking head] The bones/structural details to this home are bananas crazy awesome. Gawd, look at the window in the living room. Love the stove. Love the dark dramatic and modern bathroom. Love the use of black. Love the stairs. Love. Love. Love.

-walk in sorting mail @1:15am (2nd shifter);
-greet excited doggy;
-boyfriend comes downstairs to greet me;
-wash hands/eat something;
-talk to boyfriend about day and we both take doggy out for final walk of the night; and
-wash up for night and settle into bed with a decor mag/book.

Seems to me that it's 85-90% "DON'T PAINT THEM" advice here on AP, and considering the varied (and professional) opinions here, that's saying a bit.

And I say keep them as is too. :)

I'm going thru the same issue but my inexpensive maple cabinets--not high end like yours--will definitely be painted.

How in the world did you get away with taking pictures in Ikea? I went to the same College Park Ikea location in 2001, took a couple of pictures and was almost booted from the store! Not joking! Some security guy ran up from nowhere, told me it was against store policy, and said I'd have to leave if I didn't put my camera away. Oh well...maybe times have changed.

Loosen up, folks. It may not be chic to many of us, but I'd rather see a family have a little fun together and get goofy w/the furniture than see vinyl covers on the furniture (as many of us 30 grew up with)!

I can imagine crashing to the floor with a thunderous kaboom, then looking up to see the ceiling fall down on my head. No thanks, not good for my rowhouse's questionable rehabbed ceiling.

i have two of the jade check sinks (bottom middle) and they are a pain to keep clean b/c of toothpaste. i am definitely switching 'em for vitreous china/porcelain ASAP.

agreed silvarga! anyway, as much as i love prince's music, i'm no fan of his decorating style. It's beyond 80s tacky and cliche--i'm surprised there's no leopard print. this picture is from a home in los angeles he was renting (and i remember reading that the landlord sued him for changing the carpet, etc.). shudders at the thought of how over the top his purple mansion in minneapolis is.
