Thanks for all the feedback... To answer some questions I pretty much duplicated the room from the original picture because unfortunately sometimes in design that is exactly what a client wants, an exact replica of a pretty picture they found in a magazine. The shelves are from West elm, I turned them sideway and mounted them on the wall... I ended up adding faux legs to the book shelves because it ended up looking too heavy to be "floating"... so I guess they were a west elm remix of some sort... I used those adhesive plate hangers on a project I did for a client, they looked fantastic, but one of the plates jumped off the wall 2 weeks later. Luckily it is just a model apartment so no one actually sleeps in the bed below where it landed... that could have been extremely dangerous. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE GREAT IDEAS... especially you Dewi, your sarcasm is noted! I am hoping to have the platform made of MDF then I will just band the edges with a nicer wood. I am going to put hidden legs as supports in the middle of the platform, so that should help to lock it into place. I did do some extensive "googling" for wheels and casters; I just had a difficult time finding one that was 16" high. I actually just found this today, they are a little pricy for my taste, but I think they have the same aesthetic as the ones in the picture. Creative accents is a custom rug company that can do any size, design, color you want. I'm a designer and I have them make custom rugs for me all the time. They have a decent price point, probably not as cheap as overstock... but if you have to have that design... they are your best bet. my roommate freehanded them on the wall with pencil then went over it with a charcoal grey paint. They are all from original artwork that he has done over the years. It's not in the pictures, due to the limit of 5 photos, but there is also a giant squid painted on another one of our walls. The prints over the sofa are also his.
