I can't hold my tongue any longer.

KMK355, I made these. My kids are 2 1/2 and 6 1/2 years old, and they love to use them, and NEITHER of them tried to take a bite of one. Guess what? Kids like round, fun shapes, folks, especially if they can color with them.

We cleaned out our art closet, had a ton of crayons besides the ones we already use, and did this. It was fun!

Follow up: Ours worked! We found a nest with our yarn bits in it (over two years since we hung it, but still)!

This is a great list, will be coming back to reference it soon, I'm sure!

We made Lillet Rose and Blood and Sands at a cocktail party a few weeks ago. People were crazy about the Blood and Sands. Not sure how springy they are though!

I love this. I saw in Martha Stewart magazine one time how to make a cover for food (like a cheese platter) being served outdoors using painted terra cotta pots and some cord or rope. I always loved that idea, and this one is great, too!

Wow, I love this BOX itself. It's awesome.

I submitted an idea here in January to spark a discussion on what are good foods to bring to parents of newborns, based on my blog post on the subject (linked below). I can't wait to read through all these comments and get some new ideas.

Hi "Really?",
I'm Tiffanie, and those are my shelves. While I agree with you on many of your points, I want to point out that 1) I don't think Richard (the author) and I are necessarily promoting making your shelves out of laminate materials, the idea is that many folks out there might not act on improving their spaces for fear of it not being perfect or right. 2) I don't know about you, but I don't own a car and almost never drive. I walk to and from school with my two kids 25 minutes each way, twice a day. My local hardware store used to carry pine boards, but now only carries laminate, and will cut it for me so I can carry home with a toddler on my back. It happens also to match the 15 linear feet of p-lam counters I'm already forced to live with. And finally, 3) if you take a look at my daughter's bedroom renovation, linked above, you'll see that while I'm not perfect, I did use many recycled items (files and a door for husband's desk, old crates for the room divider), as well as Plan Toys wooden kitchen elements, which use natural dyes and are made of wood. I am surprised that 4 sq. ft. of shelving and 24 screw holes would set you off so much, but you are obviously a champion for the environment, so I appreciate that.

I recently did a post on cooking with our kids (they start young here) and all because of our piano bench. It's a brilliant way (if not exactly aesthetically pleasing) for the kids to be able to sidle up to the counter anytime they want and help out.

I was so excited to make one of these with my kids when I saw this (we get way too many oranges from our CSA), and then I read the first comment and realized that the squirrels (and raccoons) would ruin them. Boo.

I really like how the bed walls hit the ceiling and the crown trim around the perimeter really makes that top bunk feel like its own little room.

Isn't that interesting, that the popularity of the chevron may be related to the Missoni by Target line. Interesting...could be!

While I am a big fan of bunting and it's nostalgic feeling (even though it's not my nostalgia, we didn't use it when I was little), it is showing up EVERYWHERE (including my house). It's just ubiquitous, too "twee", but still, I can't resist.

I would love for people who didn't see my daughter's room when it was featured here in November to stop over and see what we did with some Ikea spice drawers and old crates!

I picked a few of those up at a little shop in Troy, NY when visiting old architecture school friends in the winter of 2010 and have given them as gifts, to much delight! I am sad to report that ours hasn't seen much action, but that is surely due to our urban location and species of backyard birds. They are brilliant!

Thank you so much for all your kind comments. I was honestly worried that it would be very unimpressive compared to some super fantastic looking rooms I've seen here lately. It's been a fun few days having this up here and I appreciate all the feedback!

@kellystokes: Most of the kitchen elements are from Plan Toys, but there are some custom elements.

@remees: We are in the heart of earthquake country, but as mentioned in the interview, I've done a bunch of rigid and pin connections and cables to be sure that we don't have a topple-over in a quake!

Prepped 'em last night, made 'em this morning, were fantastic. You can prepare them in the pans, refrigerate, let sit out of the fridge for an hour in the morning and they come out great.
