it makes sense that this is an artists space. as an artist myself, color can be confusing since it is packed with meaning. artists learn color theory, symbolism and how other artists assign meaning to color as well. I get tired of being asked, "why do artists seem to always wear black?" because pattern and color are packed it is just easier and more calming to go void of color. when there is color there is thought and for an artist the process can be overwhelming.

a "cool" color, paint the brick, remove the doilies from the windows and the dark blinds first so you can see what the rooms look like in light.

I have sold gift certificates from my studio to people who have friends who they know like my work. Also recently a couple came into the gallery that represents me and asked that one of my paintings be put on their bridal registry! I didn't know how to think about it at first, but then realized it is really a clever idea. if you want art for gifts, then pick it out and let your gifters know about it.
