i was always grateful that i could nurse my child when we flew and let her play on the floor of the bulkhead seat (with a dvd player and numerous bags of novelties). unfortunately, some flight attendants are more encouraging of this play on the floor than others; so this option varies. and some attendants intervened to keep me from nursing; so there was another vital tool randomly missing from my traveling toolbox. this caused an otherwise calm baby to wail! for those of you without kids and an aversion to the nursing mother, nursing on a plane may be the ideal way to calm and soothe the baby in numerous ways and times on a flight. so just take a peek, and then take a nap next to my quiet kiddo :) Travel with Babies & Toddlers Made Easy |

Many holiday foods may be chock full of spices and herbs that are overwhelming for little ones. Also, the day's schedule is usually very off for my daughter, so her appettite is not aligned with everyones. It is only one day--albeit a special day for adults--but they will survive if they pick their way through it. Let em play while you eat and snack through the day on what they like. Or don't let em snack and let their hunger bring them by the table. Bust out some skewers, toothpicks, or tongue depressors (big fat skewers) and let them literally poke their way through the day. I swear my kid will eat most things on a stick. See what they might do with a giant turkey leg. Have fun with them, and don't worry or fight. It's a special day because you show how much you care about them for the entire day not because you make kick ass gravy for your friends. Tips for Finicky Eaters on Thanksgiving? |

my daughter's middle name is "lien", which means lotus. he now has a lotus tattoo. and, he now has a cherry blossom on his arm and plans to add one new blossom for each year of her life at least until she is an adult, i am told. New Ink for New Fathers |
