I agree. i've never liked the idea of baked or cooked strawberries. Rhubarb on its own--terrific!

Just want to add a comment on the helpfulness of the staff at the Le Creuset outlet in Pleasant Prairie, WI. They took the time to test out numerous pots and lids to find a lid that seated perfectly on the Dutch oven I was buying. It seats better than the lid on the first quality Le Creuset my husband bought for top dollar at Williams Sonoma. Very happy customer here.

I always top apple pies with a struesel topping, straight out of Betty Crocker. Yummier than a top crust IMHO.

A version of this recipe is one of my very favorite go-to veggie dishes. I plan to try your variation--wine and cinnamon--but maybe not a whole teaspoon of red pepper flakes.

We installed a tankless hot water heater a couple years ago and have been most unhappy with it. Energy conservation? It takes ages for water to heat up. I've forgotten what it's like to wash my hands in warm water. But most maddening is the all too frequent experience of having water go ice cold in the middle of a shower--our well and water pump do not play nicely with the tankless heater. Huge regrets.

With rolled oats, I stir constantly for about a minute until I can see the foaming die down. At that point, the boil-over danger is over and the pot can be left alone. Happy breakfast!

Just lovely, and I'd have expected no less. I've followed Rhiannon's vintage adventures on Flickr for some time now. Love her style.

If it's really stale, it will taste stale in anything you add it to and drag THAT down. I'm with Kanezo--feed the birds. Or throw out.

It looks fabulous right now but I'm betting you'll pronounce subway tile is dated before ten years have gone by, and it will be on to the next thing. Love your winning small cool kitchen BTW--it's just a great mix of elements.

We've been using that yummy yogurt cake you posted about awhile back for strawberry shortcake this year. Not saying it's better than biscuits for shortcake, but it makes a very nice dessert too.

Yes, it's better than it was. I'll take a peninsula-type kitchen layout any day over a choppy, small island layout. But the look is way too cold and clinical for me. I need a bit of decor and warmth around me. Personal preference.

Painting leather?? Sorry, but this is really dumb--a project done with absolutely no foresight whatsoever. This ottoman will get cracked, peel-y, and nasty with use. And it will get cracked, peel-y, and nasty even if it's not used..
