I have refurbished a few pieces but have one problem that I would love a solution for - getting out the horrid cigarette smoke smell! I wash them before I begin the process of sanding, painting and lacquering and the smell is STILL there. Any tips? Before & After: A Chest of Drawers Gets Paper Sourced Fine Diving |

Whether it is real or not - I am always behind something that will make you feel better and perhaps bring closure or peace to your space. I have done it several times. I also 'bless' my house when I clean it. I ask that my home be a place that nurtures those that visit and brings them peace and joy. I believe it works but again, whether it really does or not, anytime you are putting out positive and doing proactive things to make your home and life a better place - it cannot hurt! :) "Smudge" Home after Breakup? Your decor is the reason I am in love with smaller spaces. It always lends itself to surprise guests with unexpected colors, furniture placement and design. You outdid yourself and it is absolutely perfect. Enjoy your home! Thanks for sharing and inspiring others! Karyn's Cultivated Curated Character House Call | Apartment Therapy DC |

No matter what your views on global warming or your feelings on the recycling movement - we can all agree that we all want to save money and not exhaust our resources. I am huge fan of small spaces for many reasons but, mostly, it is practical, economical, logical and FUN! My hubby and I downsized from 3000 sq ft home because we realized 90% of our time our family was in a 15x15 room eating & watching tv together & hosting huge parties. We cooled, furnished, wasted all kinds of money & energy on the idea of 'space.' Today we enjoy a smaller space, built all kinds of efficient and we have not sacrificed a thing, except excess stuff we never used and lots of money we wasted.
