I can see both sides of the argument here. I don't think there is anything quirky about this house. Its very catalog. I get the sense that some of the staged look has to do with the fact that since the house is so large parts of it are probably not really lived in.

My gut reaction too was that this house is way too big, and while No Nessa, you shouldn't have burnt it to the ground, it probably shouldn't have been built so large in the first place. Surely, you understand why many people at a website that has often advocated small space living, and grew out of a small living ethos would be put off by the size. It is a waste of space.

However there is some really nice rooms, and agree with lots of others that the kids rooms seem to the nicest most enjoyable parts of the tour.

I think happy valley is officially its own thing, and not part of Lincoln heights, but its so hard to tell in LA sometimes where one neighborhood ends and another begins.

That being said, only crazies live in happy valley, and thank you for confirming it in the best way possible. What a great original home. Thanks for sharing.

For me it will always be the tree growing in the middle of my grandparent's house in Mexico. The place had like 20 foot ceilings with lots of windows, and a tree right smack dab in the middle.

To me this looks like a reverse before and after. The before seems to be a lot where people are taking back previously painted pieces to.

I went with white grout and regret it. I don't think I would go dark, but I think i would at least go with a light gray group.

While I love love ikea and this idea, I think they really should skip the blu-ray and strip the cost down by about 200 dollars. 960 is way too much for a 24 in even with the added convenience. Plus, if Ikea was smart they would make it open. That is to say, they will make it hackable. All the hackable software gets a bump in value.

I hate to beat (giggles) a dead horse here, but yes. Please don't add this type of advice column to this website. It is so out of place and out of the blue.

As your comments have clearly indicated none here is looking at AT for help relationship help.

Thanks for thinking of us, but no thanks.

I have to agree that this house seems a little bit like someone who had too many good ideas. Is really busy, and trying to be modern, but all the elements really detract. It just needed some editing.

For example the window style on the front, with the border just does nothing but take away from the nice lines. A simple frosted glass with no adornment I think would have been much better. Same with the front door. The color recalls that of ikea fake birch, which don't get me wrong, I sort of love if you see my apartment, but here it detracts from the other woods. Something in a bold solid color, even something that recalled the color in the border of the glass would have made much more sense.

However. I applaud the effort and hard work. Ultimately It is better than what was there before.

This is funny because people in East LA where I grew up had chickens and roosters, and people would get all pissy about it. Now after everyone got rid of their chickens, its the cool thing to do.

I bought a couple of LED light bulbs off a website for about 5 dollars each, and they have been great. They were suppose to replace 40 watt bulbs but they are almost too bright. The quality of light is nice, and not blue or too white. Its just a shade cooler than a standard bulb. I'll start replacing my other CFLs with LEDs as they die. However I have zero issues with CFLs and mine are still going strong, so I dont forsee buying more LED bulbs for a while.

I'm with Katlia on this. Don't love the color pallet, but I like the spirit of it. I especially like that the room diagram is also in the color pallet. Clearly Michelle knows what she likes.
