May I nominate my house pre- rennovation as death by colour. An oompa-loompa may have died in there...

http://canberrasgotstyle.blogspot.com/2009/04/casa-ribena-in-begining.html

Each room was a different candy shade: four walls and ceiling, with stronger GLOSS trim. We had buttercup yellow, blue, green, pink, purple and the room that made you quickly grab your sunnies (or cry) retina burning blood-red orange with dark blue GLOSS trim.

Needless to say, repainting was an immediate necessity!

I'd like to see the grey and blue complimented with natural coloured linens. Add texture to your bed with an interesting throw and natural, charcoal and pale blue bedding. Add a flokati (or other wildly textured) rug to soften the crisp look of the furniture.

I also thought the bedhead needs some drama, a luxe padded tufted upholstered panel. Give it some height.

I also agree that the curtains are an odd length for the room, maybe you can hang a longer 'pooling' muslin layer behind in the natural colour?

And art... consider a large canvas... one I did in my house would be perfect for your room... http://ninaribenamakes.blogspot.com/2008/08/new-painting-love-it.html
... do it in charcoal to balance the curtains' heaviness.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Nina x

A huge thankyou to everyone who voted and commented on my entry. I am so very glad I was able to share my home with those who are interested, and am ecstatic that people have been inspired by it. Now that the competition is over, I can share my before and after renovation video for anyone who is interested...

enjoy! Nina xxx

ps: Moxie Maven: the feature wall in the lounge room and main bedroom is called "Chambord" by Wattyl (an Australian brand)

Hi everyone, thankyou so much for the fabulous comments. I am so glad that my home is an inspiration to some!

Frenetic floetry...wow, unreal - I'm so impressed that you found the same chairs!!! I'd love to see how they look with the lucite chairs at your place!

JuliaL...the rug in the entry is by 'Domo' (design 833 in red) a bit obscure i'm afraid - I got it at an outlet place in Aus.

Mmadden...it was pretty hard to capture everything I wanted to show in only 5 shots, so I'm very pleased to be able to show more.

and for the mums (moms!)...I'd love to do a Nursery tour, i'll have to check out what's involved!

cheers all from down under,

continue to be inspired! Ninaxxx

hi, what happened about the contest rules regarding links to other websites or house tours? does showing more pics (than 5 photos like everyone else) give this entry an unfair advantage? of course I have many more pics of my entry I would like to show everyone - but that's what the finals are for (if I shall be so lucky).

Thankyou everyone for your brilliant comments so far! To answer a couple of your queries... Peggy, the canvasses in the entry hall are covered with some gorgeous papers. Lala, our dining chairs were actually thrifted ($20 for the 4! I made the cushions). The table was a MAGIS designer splurge (available via. The rounded storage cubes were from Hotdollar, similar ones seen recently at Homeart (all in Australia sorry!). And the rug in the dining room...would adore to have a Nanimarquina number in there, but the budget wont stretch sadly!!! such is life!
