It definitely brings in more light, but it looks a little too stark to me. I think it would do well with a longish curtain mounted near the ceiling, and perhaps tied to the side, to soften it up.

I love the change in the wall colours, but the loss of those beautiful windows and plants is unfortunate.

I love it! Although it doesn't have the handy storage that some of those other ones have. I can't wait to make a kitchen for my daughter, I think I'm gonna have to start keeping an eye out for materials for it now.
I also love those pots and pans that look real, anyone have an idea of where to get some of those for relatively cheap?

CrowNology, I'm in Newfoundland too! Represent! And I completely agree, if you walk through someone's house with your shoes on here, it's considered extremely rude, you may even get yelled at. Seriously, the nicer the home, the more enforced the shoes off rule is. Thoughtful hosts have a bundle of fuzzy hand knit slippers by the door if their floors are cold.

I wish this site had a "like" button so I could like that vampire comment. Ha!
And I completely agree, sometimes reading all those "rules" and "guidelines" and listening to "advice" which comes from all directions as soon as baby is on the way, completely buries your own instinct and common sense.

My father made us one of these. He used the flat front of the drawer as the base and put a peaked tin roof on top. He also cut out the windows and doors and put in a staircase. lol He probably had as much fun making it as we did playing with it.

I tend to look at the slide show before reading the write up, and I'm Canadian, AND I didn't even realize that it was April fools today! So I was completely duped! Haha Good one AT.

^ lol applebomb, sounds like you're doing better than me and I've been moved out for two years now. I had even inherited my grandmother's "hope chest" well before I moved out! Although instead of useful things like knife sets and salad spinners, it somehow got filled with fine silverware and china, which, while nice to have, I can't see myself using in the next few years at all. I could use a rolling pin! :P

What the? A teddy bear? That's just creepy.
Encapsulation, I get. Burying it under a fruit tree, sure.
But, a teddy bear? Maybe creepiness was the intended purpose. Perhaps the owner gets some perverse amusement from the look on their guests faces when they inevitably ask what it's made out of? Human placenta leather teddy bear... wonder how much that would go for on ebay. lol

Those anti-top straps only seem to stop the tv from falling on top of the baby(or diaper-clad manchild), which is great of course, but what's stopping it from falling in the other direction?
Our tv stand is positioned in front of a corner, so I'm not sure if either of those rig ups would work for us. Maybe we'll just train the kid not to climb it the same way we trained the cat not to. Just keep telling her "No! Bad. Don't touch." And if that doesn't work, squirt her with a water gun. lol

Well if none of the above ideas work, maybe there's a way to just make the cords nice to look at instead of an eyesore. Tidy cords painted in pretty colours that complement your walls and lanterns instead of trying to blend in? Perhaps the cords could be braided loosely once they all meet and head down the wall or something. The idea is to make them look like they're visible on purpose- part of 'the look'. Just a thought.

I vaguely remember doing that, but we used to leave the flowers half attached. They're the pretty part after all! It's just frustrating enough to keep 'em occupied for hours.

They look great. Although I'm guessing the 8th room, with the rolling ladder in it is for older children... much older.

I've never seen any that big before. The only braided mats I've ever seen are bathmat sized ones, no doubt handmade by some relative of their owners. I'd love to know how to make them myself. Wouldn't the bright colours be perfect in a kids room?

Most kids will grow out of the bath time fear before this thing gets shipped to your house. :P Even for a special needs child, as nickyv proved, it's a bit much. It's overbearing and sucks all the fun out of bath time. Just look at all the bath toys this kid isn't playing with because she can barely reach the water. And she does look cold.

Wow, I love it. It looks so personal and creative (and colourful!). I bet almost every found piece has a story behind it too. Love it. It really gives me hope for my own space, since my finance and I just moved in and also have little money to spend on decor.
