I think this is an adorable room.
I have seen the metal trashcan pop up in a couple of rooms lately and though I love the aesthetic I think they are way too loud.
And four of them? The clattering would drive me nuts. Whether they are meant to be used for clothes, diapers or toys there is always a quieter solution and I don't think any house with small children needs more noise. Am I missing something?

We bought the ikea sniglar changing table specifically because we wanted to change the baby facing us. We had a boy and he never peed in our face. We also use the changing table part of our packnplay and that also faces us. I prefer that angle any day and I am in the U.S.

A little bit bummed the Tim Tams are seasonal and out of stores right now. I guess maybe Costplus has them year round?

American peanut butter is different than most found in the rest of the world. A pb&j with grape jelly is truly an american taste.
As is Jell-o. (jell-o shots are perfect for a party and completely american.)
And so are Rice Krispie treats.
Not very high brow, but trust me, people fry chicken in a lot of places. Marshmallows? Not so much.
For a dinner I'd have to go with standard hamburgers (sliders), corn on the cob (or popcorn as a snack), baked beans, watermelon, apple pie etc. as suggested above.

"In my opinion, you should give your child a cute nickname but a full name that will carry them well as an adult." Well said, Terry.
We did this with my son. He has a family name that goes back generations and each man with the name that I have known (my uncle and grandfather) are wonderful people. Like both of them, my son goes by his middle name with the family which is a weird one. But professionally/school, can go by the first name which is top ten forever and ever, William. Best of both worlds plus we are carrying on a family name.
The name Seely for a boy gets looks and a rare bird will ask if it's for Seeley Booth on Bones (different spelling.) No one ever says they like it. But the people in my family who knew my grandpa Seely LOVE it and that's all that matters. So the next time you judge someone as trying to be weird or unique, maybe it's just a family name.
I used to judge celebrities for their choices like Knox, Vivienne and Rocco until I found out they are all family names after very special people to them.

I know both a girl and boy Lux.
I know a Doolin, Henry, Harper (girl), Clemetine, Amelie, Clover, Violet (my daughter.) But I don't know any young Michelles, Dianes, Denises, Sarahs or Jennifers so those would be the unique names now for this area.

I am completely jealous of any new mother who has the time/energy/creativity to do this. There I said it. But in no way do I think it's a sign of bad parenting. They are so adorable.

I am confused why it assumed this is not for B? Yes, it's a lot of party stuff but it seems like it's done with him in mind for sure. I have seen other parties featured on here that seemed a lot more austere and adult oriented. But inflatable swords, hats, balloons and little tables sound like great fun for the kids. Good job, Ana! Parabens, Benjamin.

The cool part about it being carried at Michael's is that they often have really good coupons, so you don't have to pay the full price. Plus, I've tried the Wilton fondant and don't like it. It's nice that they now have an alternative. Great point about the black, that has great posibilities as a background to make a design pop, like brightly colored flowers.
I agree that $8 cake mix seems a little crazy (unless that makes a ton of cake) but those plastic textural things look like a nice deal at $5. So, yeah, I'd take a look at this the next time I am at Michael's.

My family has stored firewood near the fireplace in one of those for as long as I can remember. I never realized it was a wash tub! Cool.

Thanks jmorme, I couldn't remember the brand people preferred.
I have two tiny children and don't have time to make my own marshmallows right now. I think storebought is just fine in a pinch, and that means in regards to everything: pasta sauce, applesauce etc. Things I normally like to make myself but just can't sometimes.
Too tough to be a foodsnob (for me anyway) with crumbsnatchers.

lizardrebel is right, this place is pretty amazing.

I encourage you to do a spot on the nursery (or have you?) It's one of the best I've seen in a while, right down to the retro white phone, sweet toy! I liked so many parts of this apt. more than the checked high chair, it's really nice.

My husband wants all of us to go together. I think it's too much so I just take my son and leave my husband home with the infant. I have a small travel stroller and it's to keep my son contained and easy to move through the mkt. I bring my own bags, change and try to be courteous.
Still, nothing prevents me from being glared at like a heathen for bringing a stroller. Everyone expects people to carry their babies all the time but I gave birth a few weeks ago and can't wear my 30 lb. son in the carrier yet. I want to support farmers and get the freshest food for my family so I ignore the glares and continue to be as mindful of others as I can. Just this past week I scored sour cherries, beets, napa cabbage, squash, green beans, beets, carrots, onions and I'm not giving that up.

My apt. is tiny and the slow cooker still gives off a decent amount of heat. My solution is to put it on the porch and plug it into our outdoor outlet. Doesn't heat up my kitchen and I still have a trouble free meal.
