A '50's ranch has to have a pink bathroom, other wise how would you know it's from the '50's? Next thing I'll read is suggestions about painting the knotty pine, which is really western red cedar.

Flooring for Pink and Green Bathroom? Good Questions

Your bathroom is fantastic just the way it is! Embrace your pink and green tiles. Do you really want the same white, gray, neutral, bland bathroom that everyone else has??? No, because you're a groovy individual or you wouldn't be on this website. And, those handles will come in handy when you blow out your knee and get stuck with crutches - I know mine did. Save your pink bathroom!

I love my pink bathroom. Wish you had loved yours, too.

All of you that have to shop for food on a daily basis will never survive a zombie apocalypse. I'll bet you don't have guns and ammo either.

I stripped the yellow paint from my tongue and groove western red cedar, which is often mistaken as knotty pine, paneled den in my 1958 ranch. The bare wood is fantastic.

My grandparents house was very green - no central air, no furnace and they had a sistern that collected water that was used to water the garden and chickens. And the most green thing was the outhouse. Yep, the little building outside and to the back. A pump in the kitchen brought in water from the well for cooking and bathing. My mother left for college in 1942 where she lived with indoor plumbing for the first time. My grandparents upgraded to indoor plumbing around 1950. By the time the 70's rolled around, they had central heat and air. The shame....

What inspiration! I'm in the midst of returning a 1958 ranch to it's original intention from a Pottery Barn no-no. Just finished stripping yellow paint from western red cedar paneling and removing do it yourself white glaze from pink tile in a bathroom. I'm printing these pics to put in my design folder. Sweet kitty, too.

"Green" is just another marketing scheme. If you really want to be green, turn off the lights. Not so "green" anymore, huh? I've been hoarding.

Invest? You're not investing in anything. A lightbulb is a depreciating, expendable, consummable item. It's worth is less than the moment you bought it and it will eventually become worthless. There's no investment here - just spending. I'm hoarding incandescents with the plan of selling on the lightbulb black market.

I would go back to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. You could spend a week (and a lot of money) and not experience it all. Nothing beats a carpet salesman's pitch!
