I do this! I have a string of slightly nicer white lights strung taut up-and-down between two thin white curtain rods on one wall. It looks like lighted branches, and the light it gives off is really pretty. Inspired by a display at Ikea, weirdly! Keep the Glow Going: Twinkle Lights Year-Round |

I recently moved from DC to LA, having never been here before, and landed in West Hollywood. I LOVE IT. I can walk to at least three grocery stores, plus a farmers' market and more than a dozen bars and restaurants. There are always people out and about, so I always feel safe (though everyone else is right, it can happen anywhere...). Lots of young folks. Convenient to the east or west sides. Terrific all around. Neighborhood Suggestions For Moving To Los Angeles? Good Questions |

Seriously good advice. I recently had to remake a batch of bread dough because I halved every ingredient until the last one -- water. Needless to say, it wasn't coming together too well until I realized my mistake. I've started placing a narrow piece of paper over the measurements on the recipe and writing out my revised numbers on that. Don't Increase Recipes From Memory: Here's Why! |

This is what I do, except that I do all the cooking and surprise my lovely s.o. (he does something equally thoughtful for me, and I love doing the cooking, so it's not an issue). I think this year I'll make duck breast and panna cotta, both favorites of ours that we've never made at home. My Valentine's Day Tradition: A Brand-New Meal |

We've started getting arugula from the farmers' market every single week, and it's basically the only salad green I use these days. I love it. I often serve it with a lemon juice-olive oil vinaigrette and shavings of parmesan over the top, or with a sesame oil-rice vinegar-soy sauce-veg. oil-toasted sesame seed dressing. YUM.
