Gorgeous! I love the eco-aspect. Those ubiquitous vinyl decals drive me nuts....especially when people otherwise talk about organic or "green" stuff in their nurseries. So I love the felt. And the writing....absolutely the best-written post on Ohdeedoh. Thanks!

We use cloth diapers and cloth wipes (cheap adult and baby washcloths)...for the first 2 months my husband would wet a washcloth, then microwave it for 20 seconds so baby could have a warm wipe. I never bothered. Baby doesn't care if wipe is warm or not, which is funny because he HATES being cold. Just doesn't seem to mind cold wipes. I generally use 1 washcloth per change, unless it's really bad. My husband manages to use 2-4 each change. I found that the number we use is the same whether we are using disposable wipes or washcloths. Oh and we use the peri bottle I got in the hospital for my lady bits to squirt water on the cloths. It works better than the spray bottle I planned to use.

I have this chair in a sage green soft fabric. It is awesome. So cozy and comfy. I am embracing the granny-ness. Plus in a room w/ modern stuff (ikea gulliver and a simple shaker-style dresser), it cozies up the space. I bought mine secondhand, so no choice of fabric, but I like the sage. I also like the suggestion of khaki w/ colored piping, or a slipcover, but I don't know if you can do that w/ the tufting. fwiw, the tufting makes the chair even comfier.

Ooh, this is so exciting! I just ordered the same bed from Pompanoosuc Mills (www.pompy.com) in Cherry with the organic oil & wax finish...can't wait for it arrive sometime this century.

The bed was spendy so right now we are sticking with the nightstands we have, in black. On one side is the Claude from C&B (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=1020&f=3118) - bought at outlet for $175. On the other side is an antique-style bookseller's shelf from Target.

I don't have the bed yet, but I'm starting to wonder if the Claude is going to make the room look too leggy. The legs in this bed are really what make the look for me, so it's tough to decide about kind of nightstands would keep the airyness without making it too leggy.

Like others, I think the look of a Saarinen tulip would look great...but a drawer is a MUST for me, and on my husband's side the multiple shelves are invaluable.

Something to keep in mind, too, would be other furniture in the room. Do you have dressers, and what are they like?

Couple of questions for you...what kind of mattress and platform do you have with this bed, and are they working out?

Please post pictures of your bedroom when you've picked out the nightstands!

I craft because it’s totally unlike my real life as a PhD student, where I can work for months on a research project and end up with nothing to show for it. With crafting, I can work for a long time or for just a little bit, but either way, I have something pretty to show for the time I have spent.

I like to hand-sew because it’s meditative. You have to pay attention to what you’re doing but it’s not that complicated so I can just let my mind go and unwind. I took up quilting 2 months ago as I started studying for comprehensive exams. My quilting time each evening after studying was what kept me sane, and now I have 2 lovely baby quilts that I have to decide whether I should keep for the future or give to my friends’ new babies.

I would love love love the books as more eye candy and ideas for projects. I should say thanks to AT because I’ve learned so much from this site. I've been a lurker for over a year but was just moved to participate today. I love AT!!
