I second Elisssabeth's comment...Philly needs its own AT section! As someone who spends fun in the sun time with my children, I'll likely never have the opportunity to admire the decor of this pool or its predominantly hipster swimmers.

I agree with the first post that it is a shame to cover up beautiful wood, and although the suggestions in the second post sound great, they sound like they might involve a larger budget than you want to have.

I would maybe suggest picking up the darkest of the hues in the laminate flooring and staining the stairs that color (looks like maybe a dark walnut stain might work). That way it has the benefit of not showing dirt as much, and it avoids you having to pick a perfect color match like you'd need to if you went with the more prominent hues in the laminate.

I have corian counters in my kitchen and they are extremely easy to care for. I tend to prefer keeping the counters neutral and having the ability to do fun colors on the cabinets. Then when you want to change it up a bit, all you need is a can of paint.

I also think that even just changing out the hardware and bringing in modern fabrics would be relatively inexpensive and would do wonders.
