I would insert a custom-made back panel into the white space on the wall adjacent to the ceiling. The panel should be made out of the same material as the rest of the cabinets so the color and look is the same. You could then leave the cabinet open or have a custom-made cabinet door that would match the others. If you leave it open, it would be a good spot for a cookbook collection. We had a bad experience with Mario. Initially, he came over, was quite pleasant and gave us a quote to do some renovation to our home office. We scheduled the work, and the night before, I left a message on his answering machine to fax his proof of insurance to the management company of our condo building. Then, guess what? HE NEVER SHOWED UP, did not call, and although his wife was apologetic on the phone when we tried contacting him, we never heard from him again. Now we are scrambling to find a new contractor.
