I'm over the whole mid-century craze, except for the Eames lounge chair, that's a classic.

A large colorful rug. Easy to transform a room with something as simple as that.

When my ex-boyfriend of 4 years moved out 9 months ago I gave away the sofa to another couple, bought a new one, completely moved and rearranged the furniture, threw out his freestanding wardrobe and even redecorated by putting up new things on the wall. I have to say - it definitely helped me move on since changing the way the apartment looked (even something as simple as placing furniture in different ways) helped make my apartment look less like we ever lived in it together.

Love how all the subtle and minor changes made a huge improvement on pulling this room together. Looks terrific. Well done!

Sorry, but how is this a house tour?

I haven't made these yet but these sound a little too sweet for my liking. I would probably substitute dark chocolate instead of white and cut down the amount of sugar in the recipe and buy a dark chocolate toffee bar and chop it up instead of the milk chocolate heath bar.

Much larger rug, probably in another color (other than gray) to brighten the room up.

White side table is great - keep that.

Move the sofa away from the window and have it facing the TV and then the arm chairs in front of the window maybe? Move the sofa and armchairs around in a different position, but in a small space like that I would not advise the sofa in front of the window.

Lose the curtains -it'll open up the space more.

Remove the ottoman from there.

Put something else on the mantle/shelf where the TV is sitting. perhaps some candles, a stack of books...something.

Put a nice floor lamp where the fan is currently standing or a table lamp on the side table.

Pro: Easy access, especially if space is a concern.

Major Con: All the pots and pans will get a yucky, oily, sticky film on them from all the cooking taking place below. This means you will have to scrub and wash it before you use it.

I think a tucked in duvet is kind of strange looking unless you've got a high bed and a bedskirt. Also, I only tuck in the bottom of the duvet at the foot of the bed because it looks neat and won't slide around. When sleeping though I untuck the foot of the bed.
