@DAISYBLUE - The art above the tv was thrift store find that I painted over ;)

Thanks for the support!

@dulcebella - it is a pallet used as a plate rack, it is one of my favorite things ;)

@kellanchris - We live in the Azalea Park area

@designgratislondon - sadly the answer is "yes," all the furniture pictured is second hand, either Craigslist, garage sale, or thrift shop....except for the legs and mattress of the handmade (by me) "daybed" near the television...

@googerber - the shower curtain is actually a window panel since our shower opening is so small, it is from Target ;)

Yes, the shelf holding the white platters is indeed a pallet that I turned vertical and added some supports to, so that the plates would not fall through. I've added some "semi-before" shots to my blog post after reading these comments, see them here:

Thanks for the input ;)

I have a mirror above my stove and I love it! Hopefully you would normally clean any back splash behind your stove, so there's not much difference. It adds a more "spacious" feeling and light to my small kitchen ;)

msmezzo - that is a room that we rent out, so we have a roommate...so I guess you could say that is "his" space :)

GiselleMonique - I like a place called "Better than New" it is a resale/consignment place in Longwood, then there's always Goodwill...I normally go to the one on E. Colonial Drive and Murdock. Oh yeah and you should check out the Habitat for Humanity Re-stores....the original one is the biggest, which is off of 441 near Princeton. Then there's a new one on E. Colonial near Semoran, and then there's one in Casselberry, Sanford, and Apopka. There's a Thrift Store I can't remember the name of, but it is in the plaza with the Big Lots on Howell Branch and Semoran. There's actually two places in that plaza, one is a little pricier than the other. Lastly, there's a thrift store called "Treasures" and sometimes I find various accent pieces and art in there, is off of E. Colonial and Herndon, by the Summit Church.

Oh and the tree light on the wood wall is actually just a metal wall hanging that I got at a garage sale and I put a short strand of white string lights on it...sorry the metal tree doesn't have a name on it that I can give you :(

Thanks everyone :) The wood rack in the kitchen is actually a pallet that I think I got off of Craigslist (I put 2 nails in each plate nook so the plates could rest on them without falling though since I hung the pallet vertical instead of horizontal). The wooden wall....that's a funny one, we got a bunch of spare wood from the Ikea "As-Is" section. In that bunch of wood were some of the Ikea wood slats that they use for bed frames, so we cut them to size and nailed/screwed them into 3 long, vertical pieces of wood. Then on either side, we screwed it into the wall :) We did this to cover over a wall mirror that we were not allowed to remove....I do like big mirrors, but it wasn't in the right spot for my taste ;)

My husband and I went without using our AC last summer, here in Orlando, FL! We only turned it on when we had guests over. During the day, it wasn't fabulous, especially since we mostly work from home, but we saved a lot of money and we have a good amount of windows and fans. We plan to do it again this summer, although we will have a roommate, so we'll see what happens :)

Our house is full of previous owner DIY's gone wrong!! Beginning with the entire inside of the house (including the trim, doors and their hinges) being painted the same high gloss slightly grayish, blue, off-white color. Many of the windows are "sealed" with something that is NOT caulk (that's going to take awhile to re-do). Near one of the outlets in our living room, the wall is patched with bathroom caulk instead of spackle (so it's kind of rubbery!). Also, the master bath has a horrible vinyl floor that is peeling in some areas and barely makes it to the other side of the room. Also, the numerous layers of paint in the guest bath...there's one spot where I found wallpaper sandwiched in between many layers of paint! There is a lot of work to be done :)
