I could see using it in a bedroom, next to the closet. To hold hangers when you're putting clothes away, and then your robe at other times. Not for $40, though! Apartment Therapy - Adjustable Hook by Klaus Goebbels and Isabel Hamm |

Ha my parents ALMOST named me "Abigail" before they realized my initials would spell "ASS"! They were kind enough to change their minds at the last minute. Apartment Therapy - Look! : Escape Bag Initials |

I stumbled upon a great antique shop the other day: "Pippin Home." The address is listed as 112-1/2 W 17th St (1/2 because it's located down a tiny alley). The prices are beyond reasonable, there are some good finds, and the man behind the counter was incredibly generous (he gave a brief appraisal of a mirror I bought from a *different* shop, and even cleaned off the price stickers for me!) Anyway, there are a bunch of thrift/antique stores on this stretch of street, but this one is definitely my favorite. Tips: 17 |

Is it just me or does that book article sounds sort of like a trend article from Vogue? It's written in the same style, but with books rather than the latest handbag. Open Thread 497 |

I think it's clever but the glass top does nothing for it. Maybe a brushed metal top would compliment it better and make it rather industrial themed? Straight Table by Sundayland |

Eh... I don't like that particular appliance to be memorable in any way. Clean and unobtrusive are adjectives I'm looking for here. Ditto Toilet Seat by Kohler |

The few times I've wanted to buy something from Urban Outfitters (such as curtains, upholstered furniture) I saw online, I was incredibly disappointed upon visiting it in the store. I just don't like the fabrics they use. I wouldn't say they're terrible quality, though; just a preference of mine. Open Thread 487 |

I like the effect of the "pixels" towards the top of the windows, in the smaller spaces. But I find the overall effect disappointing. I don't think they need to show saints, but by breaking down stained glass windows to ONLY color, with no form or composition, they become seriously underwhelming. Oh, and I'm an atheist. I like 2 and 3. 8 is cool, but I think it could get dated. Also... I kind of like the pink fabric, but the silver paint had to go. Tips: 14 |

I know this is a long shot, but I might as well ask... a couple of months ago a link on this website led me to a specific print I have since remembered and coveted. I wish I bookmarked it, but I didn't. It was Little Red Riding Hood fighting the wolf with an axe, and winning; the composition was circular, with Red on top and the wolf on the bottom. Does anyone remember this random piece of art? Probably not... Open Thread 483 |

While I think this would be stunning in the right setting right now, I could definitely see it getting overexposed and tacky very quickly. Luminous Fiber Optic Tablecloth by LumiGram |

Just wanted everyone to know that apartmenttherapy is largely responsible for my growing paranoia about bedbugs. It was almost unbearable when, a couple of weeks ago, I found a note from the landlord under the door: a couple of tenants had reported infestations!!! Luckily, no one on my floor had any problems, but I figured it was only a matter of time. Happy ending (hopefully): I received another note under the door today indicating the entire building would be visited by specialized pest control this coming Monday. There would be a $25 fee if someone missed the appointment. Open Thread 363 |

Ug, I just got a notice from my landlords that my building might have some bed bugs. None in my apartment yet, nor in my immediate neighbors', but what are the chances the infestation won't spread? We are on the top floor... Bedbugs Take Manhattan #3 |

I don't like this place. He tells you every piece of furniture is mahogany, even when it's clearly a piece of junk. And a lot of it is junk. NY Times: Billy’s Antiques and Props |

I'm a huge fan of cherry, but I also worry that you'll go overboard with the wood. If it's the last wood piece you intend to buy, and there aren't too many others in the room, I'd say go with cherry. Walnut is definitely out. Black will always go with everything and there's no chance of overkill, but the cherry wood is so lovely. Good Questions: What's the Best Noguchi Table Color? |

I think Wende is right on the money! It elicited a chuckle, but come to think of it, I couldn't really imagine eating dinner off of the image of a garbage truck. Cute, but not much long-term potential. New York Delft Tableware by Lovegrove Repucci |
