Great job. This is a masterclass in using one color to make an impact, a lesson I need to remember in my small space. I like the clever touch of the sun-shaped mirror.

This is stunning and it's inspiring to see her turn her travels into home style in such a committed and tasteful way like this.

My only complaint: As Joan C. says, no wire hangers...ever!

The track lighting looks nice, but the fact that the fluorescent rectangular isn't parallel with the pot rack and island below it is giving me an OCD fit.

Aero's also having their Winter Sale now through 2/28, on Broome and Crosby.

Also saw in the Times that The Red Threads is having a sale through the end of the month, too, I think. Very nice handmade bedding and pillows, on Elizabeth above Spring, I think.

Does anyone know if they have stores in the US, or do you have to order from the UK? I just see UK listed on their website.

$600? Give me a break. I was just at IKEA Red Hook yesterday, and there's very little difference in the quality of the wood furniture. West Elm is about a "look"--from far away. It just doesn't look very expensive up close, so why pay more?

This is beyond bad feng shui--it's a contender for a Darwin Award.

Yeah yeah, hipster moving companies. How much extra do you pay for them to smell nice and have manscaping?

I'm all about Chinese moving companies for the low price. Kline Moving Co was fantastic, quick and super cheap.

I don't know why everyone's so quick to dump the black couch. You should be able to make it work with throw pillows and other suggestions above. A slipcover seems like a waste of money unless it really is hideous looking...

Here's a painting idea: Leave the mantle and shelves white and then paint just the wall in the back (wall behind the books) an accent color, maybe a light blue. That would give a nice glow to the whole mantle wall area. A few matching throw pillows might bring the color out even more...

They should sell it for $9.99 at Urban Outfitters.

This is exactly what I've been researching in the past few days! I'm wondering where to find a somewhat spiffier version of this--black cord with rust colored or copper socket. I've seen them in stores but they're usually very plain and cheap plastic looking. Any ideas?

And any tips for running the cord along the ceiling (to reposition the bulb without the cord lag shown here)?

Btw, these look fab with Edison lightbulbs. That's the look I'm going for.

Amazing place. Kudos. The kitchen especially is really fun.

My one beef with this amazing house: Can't you take down that "colers" sign and correct the spelling? One day your kid's going to lose a spelling bee and blame his decorator parents.

It's a great apartment, but I don't think it should win a DIY contest. The space itself is very industrial and chic to begin with, and this just adds industrial furniture on top of that.

Most inspired bit is probably the IKEA panels around the bed.

Be still my beating heart.

All the lamps are from fleas? Any other recommendations for finding lamps like these without breaking the budget?

Why does she have to walk around so much? To demonstrate how "free" she feels? Unless she wants me to imagine her moisturized parts sliding together, she needs to keep her feet planted.

Love that main room with the deer, especially the way the light shines through and illuminates the lime green curtains.

What is up with the birdcage bed, though? Do you really want to feel like a bird while you're sleeping? Are birds particularly good sleepers (or, uh, fornicators)? Sometimes you just need to give the animal fantasy a rest (literally).

I like a lot of the Ralph Lauren Urban Loft colors:

I painted my wall with RL "Stone," and it looks great--a nice pale gray that works well with my cream colored sofa.

For a compromise between the $80 banana leaf and the $15 Ikea: I found some nice organic-looking ones at Pearl River for $30 to $40...

Heh. There's a book of Japanese Chindogus (useless inventions) that lists something similar to this. In the book's photos (they actually made this invention), you put little soap chips into a plastic little box, then grind them all together into a larger, ridiculous-looking soap bar.

The book explains that it's no longer a useless Chindogu since it's being marketed in the US. I wonder if this is the product they're talking about or if there's something even more similar to the one in the book?
