Oh, I miss living in New York! And too I would display the surfboards, how cool! But the 4th picture is actually a fire escape, no? I used to hang out on mine too and climb up to the roof. Sigh.

ChrisGal- lighten up, if this works for them then great! Everyone is different, has different needs ect. How are you so sure this will be the demise of ANYTHING? Do you really have to be reminded that not everyone shares your point of view? To say it should "never be done" is ridiculous and also pointless.

I have the petrie and I couldn't be happier with it! It's really comfortable and after a year it still looks like new. I recommend it!!

I recently upholstered a wingback chair. The fabric I chose had a large repeated pattern so I ended up using a little under 9 yrds.

I love that you framed your child's artwork! Where did you get the frames? The closest I've seen to them are those clip frames but yours are much classier.

Ok, but I don't see a lot of art here. I expected a lot more after reading the title.

The nonstop negative comments here about taxidermy have completely sealed it for me- I would never put my apartment on AT. This post has taken such a left turn that it's not even about the house tour anymore. It's reading more like an advertisement for PETA. As for Village's comment- clearly you're a caring individual but hand out leaflets if it's that important to you. This forum isn't the place for that.

Just a question: since it's a rental, are you allowed to paint? I looked through the tour a second time and I agree with Yvette- the walls are screaming for color. If your landlord won't allow you to paint a dramatic color, ask if you do something subtle that will some color but will also appeal to other renters. Have some swatches handy to make it easier to convince him/her.

Swoon! I would never have thought to put a chandelier outside! Great idea-thanks for the inspiration. On a different note- I know many people find taxidermy offensive but it's not all cruel and wasteful. I can't speak for everyone obviously but many people who hunt and have taxidermy use the WHOLE animal. My uncle is a hunter and he would never kill an animal JUST for a trophy head.

I love the vintage record player! The place has great style, I wish I could see it in person because the pictures are pretty sloppy(AGAIN, AT).For instance, what am I suppose to be looking at in picture 8?

HA! I'm 5'1 so I'm always climbing up on the counter to reach the top shelf. Maybe I should get a stool.

I had the same situation with a couch a while back. Most of the places I called were way out of my price range so I decided to learn to do it myself. If you're interested, check out the Eliot School in Jamaica Plain. They have an amazing upholstery class there.

I can't imagine a sophisticated career woman calling this place home. It just comes off as cheap and tacky. To me it says dramatic college student who has an eye for decorating.

Love the home but please AT, STEP IT UP ON THE PHOTOGRAPHY! These photos look like they were snapped on someone's iphone. They look extremely unprofessional. It's distracting and takes a lot away from the tour.
