I don't agree with their advice. It's basically recommending parents to pay their children for work and pay more for a job well done. That's a a bit too commercial in my eyes. I highly recommend bamboo mats. They feel cool, definitely cooler than cotton. You may be able to find them thin bamboo mats specifically designed for sleeping in Chinatown. There are special ones for your pillow as well. I got through a few heat waves in an air conditioner-less, top floor walk-up apartment in NYC with a set my mom got for me from Hong Kong. Lifesaver. The concept of outdoor bathrooms is more inviting than the reality. Tried out some gorgeous outdoor bathrooms in Bali, but had to share with crickets, a lot of ants, frogs, a mean-looking cat; then a gigantic cockroach joined me for a soak in the tub.
