I agree completely with you about not putting people in "old folks homes", which are often dismal, uninspiring, and mixed up with people of all levels of mobility, health, and mental ability. I have had the Dyson animal for about 5 years now - it's good, but heavy. I would much prefer a lighter machine but I paid so much for the Dyson I will keep it around for a few more years. I stored a lot of things from my parents' house after they passed away and I put a big tub of the damp-rid crystals in there also which really helped and checked on it every month or so for the 6 months they were there.
