Also flipping the mattress is a thing I probably leave too long - easy to forget!

Nice place, but I found it odd there were only 2 judges to decide the final result.

Love it! Just enough to make it between minimal and cluttery - the perfect balance. Envious of those great record shelves!

My father, full Sicilian, and all of that side of my family only shelled the fava beans. He grew them every year, and not once whether young or old beans, were they peeled, in case you're feeling lazy.

The dark chocolate almonds with seasalt and turbinado sugar are fab. Get a few of those.

How about a stove that has most of the enamel chipping off the top of it, the broiler door is on the floor when you open it, and the knobs get super hot when the oven is over 400? One of the workers at the building finally said he could get me a better one that had been taken out of another building and was being stored somewhere, but when the day came for him to deliver, nothing.
Many months later I found out the owner had put the kibosh on it. Still using the horrible cheap one.

If I were hitch, I'd say that the box with figurines was stolen off the moving truck, or some friend helping me put things away tripped, and...oops!
What about the actual live in boyfriend who makes bad art? That was a problem for me for a few years - I tried to pick the best of the bad lot and put it up in a hallway but he was always miffed about that. Thankfully, both have gone.

Ok, I guess I will be the only one who doesn't like either of them. The old one looks like a bad 70's re-do and the new one is too office/clinical cold for my taste.

I would love it if schools had etiquette as part of a class, perhaps called "Life Skills" or something similar. Students could also find out about paying bills, keeping house, insurance, car buying, and other things you would need to know when you're on your own for the first time. It would be great if they learned these things at home, but often that's not the case.

The new kitchen is ok, but the old one - except for ugly ceiling/light fixtures, is much warmer and inviting and goes better with a 1909 house.

I wish there was some sort of coffee shop council to rate the strength of the drinks and post it, sort of like the A, B, etc. restaurant ratings.
Starbucks is quite weak with the latte, whereas Peet's is much stronger. Easy enough, but when spending 4$-ish at a place you don't know it would be great to have a number to go by. "Ah, it's only a 4 strength, I will order a double shot then!" or vice versa.

Love the stuff! I used to hang out at Obsolete in Santa Monica when I lived down south and this reminds me of a pared down version of that in some way.

Ah, the silver fox Bourdain - but I thought he quit smoking? Maybe it's an old photo....
He knows his stuff, and yet also admits fear and even defeat sometimes, which is hugely appealing. No one wants confidence that drifts into egomania. And he has a good sense of humor, which is always a requirement for a truly cool guy.

Sometimes you can find a few extra bits to add from even the side of empty lots in town - pretty natural grasses or dried dill, etc - I have seen even wild sweet peas in season in the spring which you could take a few sprigs from.
If you're left with only those "mixed bouquet" things, split up the flowers, use a few similar little vases or glass bottles and have them displayed like small jewel arrangements with slightly varied heights in groups.

To those complaining about gender titles, they did put "feminine" and "masculine" in quotes, and most people would qualify certain things as looking that way. It doesn't mean you are criticizing someone for having that taste.
