I actually bike to the metra, even though the cta is closer, and it's cut my commute in half. I don't know if that's an option for you, but I know a lot of people who do that, rather than try and catch buses to trains.

Not sure I'm loving the office in the hallway there, but on the whole it's pretty awesome.

I belong in the "sentimental" group - I've had my bear (Mr. Ted Oops-I-Sat-On-Your-Face, or Mr. Oops for short) since I was 2, hard earned by stealing it from my newborn little brother, and since we moved a lot when I was growing up he's pretty important to me. He wears a very chic scarf I got from this random shop in Paris so even though my sister in law says he looks like he's dying of Kaposi's sarcoma I think he adds a special something to the bedroom.

My aunt used to have a thing for ducks. And then three christmases in a row she got only ducks, from everyone, so now she asks for books.

I'm going to have to move out of Chicago pretty soon (for work) but I have to say that bar none, there is no other city in this country I would want to raise my children in. I agree wholeheartedly with mariekemc re: Chicago folks vs. people anywhere else - the only other place I've found folks as consistently awesome as Chicagoans is in Germany.

And Tequila Red, you forgot the outdoor seating at Moody's Pub.

God, I cannot believe I am moving.

Yeah I have one, and I couldn't get rid of it when I posted it on craigslist. I don't have anywhere to put it, so I ended up packing it away - I figure I'll get some use out of it once I move. But the light is hella bright, and I'm worried about what I'll have to go through to get the same sort of bulb once this one burns out.

No question, I'm actually expecting that when my parents get too old to live by themselves that they'll move in with me. I've always wanted to live multi-generationally, and I think that everyone learns to live more responsibly when you've got people of various ages to take into consideration. But then again, one of my first chapter books when I was a kid was "My War With Grandpa" so yeah - that's what I'm looking forward to, once I have kids.

Is there an article on the decorating in their Hyde Park home? I'd love to see what they did with that, and then compare it with what they do in the White House.

Only cons I've got is that I can't foist unwanted chores on someone else, and the splitting money for cable, etc.

But you know, in a 90s kind of world, I'm glad I got my girls.
