I read somewhere that "laundry experts" almost all wash things like underwear separately from other clothing. Since that clothing is closest to your body and in the most intimate areas, absorbing the most bacteria, it needs more rigorous washing than a pair of jeans or a top.

So, for us (married, no kids), everything gets sorted into two bins: mild washing and serious washing. The serious wash bin includes underwear, sweat-soaked workout wear, cleaning rags, etc. The mild wash is everything else that needs a wash but isn't soaked in bacteria. Serious stuff gets washed in warmer water than the mild stuff. Mild wash stuff all gets washed-rinsed cold, so it can all be washed together in one big load. We wash these two loads once a week. Towels (including dog towels and bedding) and pillowcases get their own load and sheets go in with these every other week. Once a month I wash the shower curtains.

Love: laundry, vacuuming, dusting, straightening up, sorting the mail, taking out the recycling, and shopping for and putting away groceries.

Hate: mopping, cleaning the tub/shower, putting new sheets on our platform bed, and hand-washing (dishes).

Love the cobalt blue with white. We have this color in our bedroom and went for orange instead of the yellow to pop with it, but I love your accent color, too. When we're ready for a change, now I know we can swap in some yellow :)

I love your use of cobalt here, and the stripes *are* really fun!

I'd like to see the rest of the room, too -- mostly because I love what you've done here so much. This is easily my favorite dark room so far :)

Like CM, the first quiz didn't get me very well -- I got Vegas Baby with a touch of Boho. I tried it again, and got Vegas Baby with a touch of Sassy. I tried pics I don't like and got Farmhouse Glam. Even when I'm not trying, it's all glamour. Not so much.

I loved the Sproost quiz, though, and got Modern Elegance. And Ethan Allen decided on Romance. Both descriptions were much more me.

We're doing a major inventory prior to a cross-country move (and as insurance backup since we're moving to an area with high risk for flooding if there are any hurricanes), and we found Personal Closet and Barcode eXpress both awesome apps for inventory purposes. Barcode comes with a 2-week free trial period, so you can try it out first -- we like it so much we bought it ($2). Personal Closet has a "lite" version but it saves everything to the phone -- you have to buy it to save to the SD card. Both are totally worth the investment, so far!

We're in the packing part of moving right now, and we've been using an inventory app to catalog everything. We're moving to a low-lying area in Florida, so we wanted to have a full on-line backup of all of our stuff, in case of flooding or hurricanes. As a bonus, we can tag each item, so while we're packing we're tagging the box numbers. It's a lot of work, but since we plan to move again in a year or two, it should be a huge time-saver in the end!

We had them as kids without fighting over the bunks or growing out of them. However, when I was 8, I fell when climbing into the top bunk and got a compound fracture in my arm that necessitated several surgeries to fully repair. I'm not a fan.

I would add that you should try to pick out some serious items and some whimsical items. We love the super-fancy Scrabble board we received, and it sees as much time out of the cupboard as the china does.

I always buy gifts for people off their registries, and I've noticed that people tend not to want to purchase some of the most useful items -- they are always left right before a wedding. I always buy people their towels, cloth napkins (everyone wants to give the tablecloth, but you need the napkins, too!), and everyday gadgetry since no one else seems to want to give those items.

The items people will buy first are the "signature" items. Candlesticks, vases, and recognizable gadgets (like the mixer) are popular because people want to give you a gift you will remember came from them. Try to provide a variety of these -- you're more likely to get these than the towels you actually need.

Also, I think people don't want to give a gift card with a small denomination. The variety of price points allows guests who want to give a gift but can't afford to give much the opportunity to save some face. Have a handful of nice items under $50 that you actually want.

Another set of schnauzers here, so we have no issues with fur and we clean their paws when they come in the house. One sleeps curled behind our knees, weighing the blankets down. The other cuddles with us at bedtime, then flounces off to sleep in her own bed overnight (humans move too much for her liking), and returns to sleep in the bed with us in the morning. She has her own pillow, dubbed The Princess Throne, that keeps her from waking us up when she returns in the morning.
