Sure would be nice if this could be made with a refillable filter cup; I hate the waste of disposable coffee units. Win: Keurig Vue® V700 Brewer! Thursday Giveaway |

I'd keep them, too. They look clean and fresh and the kitchen will look much fresher at lower cost if you just paint the cabinets. What Should Replace the '80s Tile Counter in Our Apartment's Kitchen? Good Questions |

Recently, I saw a tv show about inventors in which one woman had come up with a pocket thing you put UNDER a bed skirt -- pockets all around, so you could store something like 20 pairs of shoes around a queen-sized bed, all tidily hidden under the bed skirt of your choice. I really wish I could buy one of those. Beautifully Organized: Shoe & Bag Storage |

A few smaller projects here: One, consolidate all my recipes into just two locations: a binder for the recipes that aren't online, and a well-organized bookmark folder for online recipes. Up to now, I've been keeping them in about five places: a binder, two file card boxes (lovely wooden antique ones, but still...), a bookmark folder on my browser and an e-mail folder (for links e-mailed by friends.) Impossible to find what I'm looking for, and the files are taking up valuable countertop real estate. I'm also going to sort and organize my fabric collection, which is now a jumbled mess in a hall closet. Hopefully, I'll get to bigger projects before the month is over, but I don't want to overshoot and feel crappy about not getting it done. We use the over-the-door shoe pockets, too. One row of pockets for each person in the family, with an extra row for foldable umbrellas and such. It actually hangs on the outside of the powder room door, since we don't have any closets on the first floor. (Old, old house.) The organizer is made of heavy-duty fabric in a bold, abstract floral print that I actually like looking at. I love that all the hats, scarves and gloves are organized and easy to find. Brush your cat twice a day -- you'd be amazed by how much fur ends up in the brush, even brushing multiple times in one day. Best part: if I brush my guy twice a day, he doesn't puke up hairballs and he doesn't leave a forest of fur on every surface. Cat-Friendly Decorating Ideas? Good Questions |

Politics aside, I favor reusable bags for the simple reason that I have NEVER EVER seen a tree or bush near my house in which cloth bags have become entangled. But I have seen plastic bags doing that. And I've never, or maybe almost never, seen reusable bags tumbling around on the street, the way I see plastic bags. I appreciate and respect what FULINLIN says. But if you already have some crummy old baskets and dribbles of leftover paint sitting around, I think it's fine to paint them any way you like and make use of what you have on hand. I'd probably go for something less African-style and more scandinavian -- a wide stripe in a cool color, for example. DIY Projects: African-Inspired Painted BasketsThe Marion House Book |

Isn't it odd.... I looked at this tour and it was one of the few times really believed I was looking at the home as people actually lived in it and used it, not as it had been "styled" for a shoot. It's enjoyable to feel like you're getting a peek at someone's real home, not a fantasy created for a photo shoot -- this is the original reason I started reading AT years long ago. The owner is pretty, but seems friendly and approachable in the photos. Sorry everyone had to be so cranky. Tolly's Peaceful Home and Adventurous Backyard House Tour |

I love your home, top to bottom. What a great job you've done. In particular, can you reveal the source of the wire shelf-hook thingy used in the bedroom to hold artworks and necklaces, etc.? I've been looking for something like that, well, forever. Elizabeth's Urban Artist Retreat House Tour |

I love the clean, new look. And the typefaces don't bother me. But please consider making the main page EVERYTHING, rather than forcing me to click around endlessly looking for new stuff, which I'm already not doing. And please, please, consider a better way to caption posts with multiple photos. This business of always having to count which thumbnail photo I'm looking at, then scroll down to read the caption to figure out what I'm looking at makes me crazy. It's so cumbersome. At least number the photos, so you can quickly see which caption to read. Thanks. Welcome to the New Apartment Therapy! |
