My bedroom is so dark at night I ended up adding a red light under my bed on a timer that comes on during the night. If nature calls I can find my way out without killing myself on any furniture and the best part is when I am lying in bed and the red light is on below the bed I can't even tell as it only illuminates the floor and everything else is still dark.

Keep the craftsman house tours coming! There have been several over the last few weeks and it is my favorite style of architecture.

I wish I could get a straight answer on Bona vs. Murphy's Oil Soap. I repeatedly hear one is better than the other but of course it depends on the source. Of course Bona will tell you Murphy's is bad and vice versa. Because of my inability to get a straight answer from anyone that doesn't rep. one product or another I started to use plain vinegar and water but it leave my floors looking dull. My home still has the original quarter sawn oak floors that are now 85 years old. They were refinished 12 years ago with a urethane finish.

It looks to be a bit over engineered for the purpose.

I find the use of color and texture throughout this home very appealing. The light is lovely too. Nice job Lindsey.

More than 200 comments so I doubt AT will see this, but with all the site updates there is one thing that was over looked. In my opinion it is what has needed updating the most. the navigation through the house tours really sucks. On a laptop you constantly have to scroll to see the whole picture. Navigating from picture to picture is tedious too. The last color contest had a different layout where arrows would appear over the photo when you moused over them to navigate to the next. It also gave you an icon to enlarge the photos as an option.

5 Ways to Naturally Humidify Your Home

Excellent advice. I'm a very nervous host and never realized how much it effects the mood when I entertain. It makes perfect sense that my guests would pick up on that energy. Because of that I haven't entertained in 10 years. I am taking the plunge again this year and feel grateful I'm wise enough to know my limits and am keeping it to a very small group of really close friends. I'm skipping the traditional office Christmas party this year and instead have invited the friends our company laid off in the past year for dinner in my home instead.

I may use the menu napkin ring at a dinner party soon. I'm hosting a Bavarian Christmas dinner party and plan to put out a menu written in German (with English translation) to help with the theme.

Thanks everyone. I bought the rug from Home Decorators catalog. Believe it or not it has been down for at least 10 years.

Nice but a bit traditional for my taste. I think the inclusion of B&W pattern on cushions and chairs in both halves of the room adds a lot of life though.

Turketron, these humidifiers hang off the side of the radiator. I've purchased several from this site. http://www.tullulastreasures.com/page/page/756906.htm

The flower pot holders were originally purchased at Target many many years ago. Originally they had galvanized metal inserts which I removed. I got some metal grate material (expanded metal) from the hardware store to make the bottoms to hold the pots and still allow water and debris to fall through the bottom. So basically semi-custom, but I don't think I've seen them at Target since buying them. They are secured to the iron railing with pipe clamps.
