As gorgeous as these are, they're of terrible quality. My fiancé and I received them as a wedding gift. They've been cracking one by one, and we've only had them a few months. It seems to happen when the glasses are at room temperature and a cold drink is poured. Jonathan Adler won't replace them because they weren't broken on arrival and didn't break within the first 7 days.

Apartment Therapy New York | NY Good Questions: How Should I Decorate This Room?

Wow, thanks for the responses! This is fantastic. To start off, here are all of the prints that i have started to aquire, and have no attachment to putting certain ones in my living room. Even if you have an idea for only one, and think the rest should go somewhere else, that's fine:

Where to begin? That trolley idea is genius!!!!

I also completely agree with the heavy drapes and ottoman/pouf/small coffee table idea. The more i think about it, the more I definitely want something there. I just don't want it to be huge, as much as i want it to look good, i do need to keep the dog in mind. The ottoman sounds more relaxing, but I'll probably end up going with some type of table(s), because not having anything to rest drinks or objects on is DRIVING ME NUTS! I really like the idea of the double smaller tables. That's really neat.

Also, that other wall is longer. It isn't the wall you see when you come in though. Do you think that's a problem? Eventually i'll have a flat screen (one of these days), so seeing a tv stand when walking in at first wouldn't be so bad, would it?

As for the black frames that are already there, those were prints from college dorm days. I don't want them staying there. If you have any suggestions for the book case in general, please suggest away. I don't like the state it is in, currently. Usbek, you say to clear off most of it. Just leave most of it empty? I'll try. I'm so bad at clutter. I would love to clear all of it off and start new...but what to put?

Usbek, i'm not sure what you're mistaking for a turntable. I keep trying to figure it out!

Greenbean: I got the couch at a floor model sale at Robb & Stucky. I believe the model is discontinued, but they've always got fantastic furniture of this ilk. It can be rediculously expensive, so hit them up on their sales and you'll get an extremely well made piece of furniture for a steal.

Bklyn: I would love to get the couch off of the wall, but it is too long for the room. Id have to suck in my stomach and squeeze by it to get to the other side. It is a fantastic idea though, and i think i'd love to go with that when i move to a place with a bigger room.

Coco: Thanks! I got the tv stand at american signature. Theyre still selling it! I tried to find it online, but i don't think it is on there. It is definitely still a brand new piece they are selling at the store.

Thank you all so much for your input! I am soaking it all in, and i think it'll turn out great.

One more thing to add. The knicknacks contained in the book case are just place holders so that it isn't empty. I have no attachments whatsoever and would very much like to have something different in them.

I need help with quite a few things in decorating my living room! I recently bought an awesome new sofa, a tv stand, and some really cool art prints. I have a start, but I don't know where to go from here. I need help with frame choices, matte choices, art placement on my walls, and any other genius decoration ideas I know the users on this site are capable of.

Here are images of the room as is:
Living Room 1
Living Room 2
Living Room 3
Living Room 4

Here are some images of the prints I recently purchased from Gallery Nucleus that I would love to use for this area:
Ninjas 12x42
Man Walking 8.5x11
Woman Walking 8.5x11
Imaginary Friend 6x19

Right now everything I have gotten so far seems to be a muted green or tan. I do have those two prints that have a more vibrant green, and I am definitely interested in adding more color to the room than just those muted tones.

All of the prints that I have been collecting have been things that remind me of wild imaginations or books, or even something whimsical. I want to keep with that theme. I have more prints that are not matted or framed here. If you think I could use any of these, feel free to give input:
Other prints labeled with size

I had a few questions about mattes and frames. Is it better to give everything matching mattes and frames? Matching frames but different matte colors? Matching matte colors but different frames?

Limitations:
-I am unable to paint the walls. I move too often, and I want whatever style I choose to be easily transferable.
-I want to avoid buying a big coffee table for the center of the room. I've got a big 80 lb. dog and don't want to take up too much space that he could use to lay about.

Thank you!
