My friend has an elevator in their house and its actually quite useful. You wouldn't even know its there - It just has a door on the front like every closet in the house. You would think it was a closet unless you opened the door. I think there is an internal accordion style door, but you just have a regular door in the room. Home Elevator, Yea or Nay? Don't pass that bed up, its gorgeous and looks nicely made. You are talking about a 3 inch gap on either side -- that's not much. Maybe just throw a piece of trim in the gap. Full Mattress in Queen Frame? Good Questions |

Here's one idea: You could hang vertical strips of wood at least 1/2 inch deep where the shelves would screw into the wall. This way, you attach the shelves to the strips instead of the walls. If these strips are then painted the same color as your wall, they may be barely noticeable once you fill up the shelves. You'd still see a gap between the shelf and wall on the ends, however.
