Thank you for the article.

I had already stopped donating clothes to Goodwill when I found they were sold overseas and instead started donating clothes to local shelters.

Planet Aid's website sounds arrogant enough to presume that if they didn't take my gently-used clothes, they would be trashed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_Aid

I personally prefer to have items REUSED locally instead of directly recycled because REUSING is better for the environment and uses less resources.

I am glad that works for you but that wouldn't work where I live. :( I wish we could rework our zoning laws to make cities more friendly to those not using cars since not everyone lives in an area where we can walk to our grocery store.

Of course, I don't want to give up my fridge that holds my own garden harvests since the local "farmers markets" are more expensive than buying organic at the local supermarket.

I am both intrigued and slightly grossed out with the idea of putting flip-flops, garden tools, mop buckets, outdoor toys, etc. in a normal household dishwasher machine where I will clean my food dishes later.

@Kara Rosine, I hope you are alright. Please get a carbon monoxide detector AND have your house inspected by a professional because I am afraid something else in your home may caused your illness and it needs to get fixed as quickly as possible. Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when you burn fuels and without a pilot light, nothing should have been burning. If you can find the uncommon "free-range" lard, you will have a healthier fat than our modern "corn-fed" standard. Free-range lard should be much higher in ALA and Omega-3s.

I can't even get "My current data usage" feature of Comcast to work! But between thisnice apartmenttherapy post and the other one I linked to, I am able to accurately gauge my bandwidth usage. @sygyzy - Other way around. Pillsbury biscuits & the like are yeast biscuits that "rise" under the pressure of the tube, and expand when the tube is popped open, while homemade biscuits use chemical leavening.
