this at least gets us toward a more "natural" interface. Our hands allow us such a range of gestures, that it seems only natural to get away from the 2D interfaces we currently use.

I am assuming your hand has to be more or less over the device to work..?

That sounds about right for the battery usage... the good thing is, it has a swappable battery, which means extended batteries are not far behind.

I think one of the fun things we did as a kid was when we got bored with our games, we used the board and/or pieces to invent our own games with them.

Another thing I just thought of - I hope these games don't automatically move our playing pieces for you. We use board games to help our kids learn to count...

Knowing Exactly the Right Time to Buy a New Mac, iPhone or iPad dealnews

there are plenty of people who pay this much for an iPad for just email and surfing.. the question is just how much you want to spend. Personally, for my mother (73 yrs old), I needed a keyboard, as she was more accustomed to using it. I didn't have the patience to teach her a touch interface. And believe me.. it would NOT be intuitive for my mother.

@HLG22 - there are a lot of great wines at $10-20 a bottle... but it doesn't matter how much you paid, if the wine gets ruined it will taste like crap...

I don't have a cellar or a huge collection. I just have a wine fridge down in the basement that holds about 24 bottles (and is rarely ever full, but there are a few special bottles in there).

Yeah, I agree - I'd rather store my wine properly and impress people with the experience of drinking it rather than trying to impress them with the way I show it off...

What Technological Advancement Makes You Think, "This is the Future"?

@Blandwagon - not exactly. I remember when I was younger, you could get a "pocket" TV you could carry around and pick up over-the-air broadcasts. It was only slightly larger than the pocket radio I used to listen to hockey games on under the bedcovers at night. Granted, the screen was about 2" diagonally, but it did exist.

I suppose if you are on your iPad all the time, you can replace your children, as well.. that'll save you more than any of the other devices.

oh, and since I write and compile Visual Studio applications, I'll need to wait for a future iPad which will allow me to compile these apps.

Oh, one more thing - any of the writers here can feel free to give me any of these devices they no longer need once they buy their iPad. :)

I work in the television industry, so I don't need to take time off. I have a TV at my desk with access to satellite. :)

Of course, when certain events come around, office productivity seems to drop off a little...
