I've visited her urban garden- it was amazing. She inspired me when we were trying to decide whether or not to convert our suburban front yard to a garden (we did.) Can't wait to read what she (and Joshua Nichols) have to say!! New Book: The Urban Farm Handbook |

I was going to say find your nearest LDS Cannery, they have flexible lids that fit #10 cans (the big, big cans) for purchase. Where Can I Buy Lids for Empty Tin Cans? Good Question |

Stretched over a 4 or 6 inch embroidery hoop, you can make a pretty good "pop guard" for your microphone in a home recording studio. We jury-rigged a wire coat hanger to attach it to the stand, but you could probably figure out something a little more elegant involving a clamp of some sort. How To Recycle or Reuse Old Tights? To add my 2 cents to other posters, I freeze cilantro: wash, mince, and load into a Ziploc freezer baggie. I have a few regular cooked recipes that call for cilantro (curry, chili, etc.) and it's easy to break off a 1/4 cup chunk and throw it into the pot. Because I'm cooking it, the texture I lose due to freezing is completely un-noticeable. I find it lasts a month or two without any loss of flavor. Leftover Cilantro? I would definitely leave it, as LovelyFrugalHermit said, and make an obvious edge and "new portion." It's just so pretty! A Tale Of Two Floors: What Should We Do? | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Really interesting! We took out a broken down hot tub when we moved in, and I was grossed out by how many pounds and types of chemicals we found in the shed for that old hot tub. A Backyard Pool Goes Eco: Salt As a Chlorine Alternative | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Right now, with a strong body and lots of time, and exceptionally little cash, I prefer to do as much as I can myself. My parents...with tons of church commitments, lots of work travel for Dad...they have much more money than time. I'm grateful for the skills I have, but you have to recognize that this world has an economy that can't be sustained on DIY'ers. I'm better at doing, Dad's better at buying- we should perhaps focus on our strengths? Are You a Radical Homemaker Failure? Salon.com | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Soak about 2 cups of leaves in the milk mixture for your favorite vanilla ice cream (I use a simple milk-cream-sugar-vanilla uncooked recipe) for a few hours or overnight in the fridge. Strain and freeze- it's amazing! I've wondered the same thing, particularly around "seed bombs" that might contain self-seeding, non-native flowers and plants. It seems that if you remove the plants from the area, you could be removing habitat for local small animals, spiders, bugs, etc. Maybe a pollen source for bees, if the weeds flower. A little jam and mustard makes a really yummy dipping sauce for sandwiches or ham turnovers (ham and cheese, baked inside a folded over round of biscuit dough.) My favorites are plum and strawberry! Jellies, Jams, and Marmalades: What to do with Preserves | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Hitting my head now- I hate how smelly my plastic bin from the city has gotten, and I've been wondering what to do with some empty #10 (coffee can size) cans floating around in our rubbish-we'll-use-later cabinet.
