did you make the studiomama pallet chairs as well? kudos! i'm the process of "furnishing" a concrete backyard with no budget to spend. pallet tables, chairs, swings and potting benches are high on my to-make list.

i totally second other people's comments. Love the sofa choice and color combination. But the parsons table for TV stand feels awkward. Maybe go for a lower console or credenza? Also, the furniture is sporting fantastic cool tones, and it would be great to see the wall color reinforce that. Maybe with a nice gray?

I use chili powder (the asian kind) nearly everyday in my cooking. You could grind your own as phoxx or jonathan have suggested, but i dont know if its really worth the effort.

A wide variety of chili powders are readily available in indian, thai or chinese markets...allowing you to choose your level of coarseness. They fresh for months when stored in an airtight container.

If you dont know what level of coarseness you would like, I'd suggest going for the finely ground chili powders. They will allow you to add heat evenly throughout your dish. The coarser the grind, the more likely you are to chomp into chili goodness.

to the indians, chili powder=dried red chilies, powdered. that you need a recipe for chili powder which adds non-chili ingredients is a revelation. does the name come from what goes into a recipe for chili (the ground beef stew), do you think?

yea, i'd thought of the velcro, but it just seemed like it would be unsightly when the cushions were being used on the floor. but i think maybe using fabric (the the tweed above) that has some traction might help. i think the platform itself prolly also needs to have a lip so as to reduce slippage.

i LOVE this idea. but I forsee a problem.

i used to have an old 70s "ottoman" that was just this: pillows stacked on a platform. unfortunately, the pillows would keep sliding about when someone sat on it., making it an awkward and uncomfortable seat. does anyone have any ideas on how to avoid this situation?

i love the look of wood bowls. but this post reveals to me just how much precious is wasted for the sake of a pretty thing. definitely not an ecofriendly item.

its great to know what all those ingredients do and all, but none of the information takes me any farther toward figuring out what their environmental impact would be. that i thought was the point of the post in the first place...
