I've used Freshaire paint, sold at Home Depot stores. Its a no VOC paint with no VOC colorant, which apparently isn't the case with a lot of no VOC paints, meaning the pigment used to actually add color to the paints also contains no VOCs. I love it, the colors are a bit muted, no noticeable fumes, and great coverage. My only complaint would be it isn't every color of the rainbow, but I'm satisfied and will use it again.

as for meds, you can always do what Marge Simpson did- sell them at a garage sale to Otto and Snake.

love the pink- that light fixture looks like a high powered magnet that sucked up everything in its radius.

i don't like the lamp/table combo. i like them both, just not together- the lamp is bigger than the table its sitting on and i think it looks awkward.

well i did watch the first episode, even though i don't really care for reality tv, i was curious about their design abilities. that being said, these people would never have gotten their own tv show based on their design abilities alone, it was the 7 kids in tow that signed that contract. don't get me wrong, they have decent taste, but really, how innovative is it to decorate with hi/low pieces, a few flea market finds, rugs everywhere and white walls? nothing wrong with that, but not exactly ground breaking and certainly not worthy of a design show.
as for all the kids, i've met people who have had to move several times as children and its usually not something they look back on fondly, some of which are in therapy just to deal with the issues that ensued from all the uprooting. and the amount of kids does seem excessive, sort of 'screw you all you unwanted kids of the world, our parts work and we use them'. and it is a drain on the world's resources, you can't make everyone on earth plant a tree and replace all the resources they use.
the show was a business decision for these people. the kids are part of that decision, not dissimilar to the parents of yore that would parade their disfigured children to a circus audience. i'm not saying what they're doing is the same thing, but really, they have a reality show, not a design show. its a show about hipsters with loads of kids who happen to design their homes well enough to sell them for a pretty penny.
and one last thought- there was a scene in the show that shows the father giving 'points' to whichever kid can shout out where they purchased certain objects in their house, eg 'one point for where we got these lamps, fountain, rug'. i mean, what if none of the kids give a rodent's rump about design? i never cared much about what far corner of the earth my parents acquired a particular piece of furniture, but then again, my parents didn't parade me on tv with my siblings for a buck.

It reminds me of CBGB's bathroom. Not sure why anyone would want their bathroom to resemble that of a now defunct punk club, but i suppose that wasn't exactly what they had in mind in the first place.

ok i took a second look at this tour just to make sure i wasn't missing something all the positive reviewers were seeing. I wasn't. this place looks even more ghastly the second time around. what exactly am i looking at in the photo with the dead bird, corn huskers lotion and nail polish? is that fashionable decorating to you people? really? i can see what they were going for, but i really think they missed the mark. but, more power to them if they wish to make their home look like a dime store trophy room. i don't know them and won't pass judgment on them as people, but i will give my opinion freely on their apartment they posted on the internet for the world to see. tasteful is one thing, cramming a brooklyn loft full of junk is another. even Elvis had enough decorating sense to keep the safari theme to only one room.

this is beautiful. i usually don't like white walls but this is gorgeous. i don't like the palms touching the ceiling- i think it would look better as a floor plant with a smaller, although still dramatic, plant taking its place. and that can't be good for the palm.

it sort of looks like an upscale TGIFridays. I had an allergy attack just looking at all that dust collecting stuff. so are they planning on living together forever, and if not, how are they going to split up all the dead animals in boxes and pith helmets? and not to sound snide, but lots of people have traveled the globe extensively, myself included, and I've managed to decorate with my findings without it coming off as Sanford and Son chic.

i can see both sides to this argument. the house seems a bit, i don't know, soul-less? but it is a refreshing change from all the 'look i took a piece of furniture and slapped some paint and amy butler fabric on it' posts

one year i came home to find the tree lying on the floor and dragged halfway across the room. I imagine they climed it, it fell over, and they scrambled to get away dragging the tree along with them. They've been sort of scared ever since. This year when i took the tree out of the box, mr. rumplins actually hissed at it.

I watch the show and find it fascinating and disturbing. It does motivate me to do a deep clean of my apt every time i watch it. I'm also amazed by some of the hoarders on the show who say they were normal, organized or tidy people at some point in their lives. Thats what scares me.
