My husband and our 8 month old daughter live in Seattle in a one bedroom condo and plan to stay not just in the city but in our current home through baby #2. We don't have a big backyard but we do have a park, tennis courts, and a city pool less than a block from our building, a community in our building that we share landscaping and gardening duties with and who help/trade childcare, and both of us commute less than 3 miles on direct bus routes to our jobs. We flex our schedules and don't need to pay for childcare. I can't imagine trading it all away just to have more square footage and having to drive to get to a park! Not to mention nobody but me or my husband to weed the garden!

Those are adorable dolls!!

I was a little disappointed to see that there was only one option for a doll that isn't either white or a fantasy creature. There are several white dolls to dress up, and all of the fantasy characters that aren't a crazy color like purple or green, or an animal are white. Apparently fairys only come in one skin color, for example.

Check out these bags: http://www.boodlebags.com

they're designed and made by moms, and environmentally sensitive. Lightweight, stand up on their own. Pretty much amazing all 'round.
cheers!

Ooooh, I'd want black! and I'd play The Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping" OR, even better, The Spice Girls cover of it. You know, in honor of their reunion. :)

My husband and I just bought our first home - a small condo in Seattle's central district. The building was built in the 1920s as a home for unwed mothers, and was apartments for a while and now condos. Anyways, our place is on the lower level - and all our windows look out directly on the the driveway and, yes, the dumpsters next door. I'd use this for my kitchen window, where my kitties love to sit in the sun. The kitchen is painted pale green already - this would be a fantastic touch.
