I have an aunt with a bad back who used the kitchen sink until her daughter was around 4. I have friends who took their babes into the shower in a waterproof sling from the get-go and their kids continue to use showers with no problems that I know of. I love the look of this -- forget the kids, it will look great in my craft room! But why are there only 6 drawers instead of 7? Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Storage by Vertbaudet |

We transitioned our son to his own bed around 2 years of age. He's still welcome in our bed if he wakes up afraid, but he starts out the night in his bed. We decided to make this transition in part because he was finally sleeping all night long and more often than not he stays where he fell asleep. We do keep him company until he falls asleep -- trying to leave hasn't worked yet but all in good time, I hope! I read the blog of a couple that moved to China with their two year old (at http://cubiclemuses.com/pg/). I think they're very brave, but it does make me want to do it too :) Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Blogging NPR: Honey, I Exported the Kids |

I've been amazed by my son's interest in all things planes, trains and automobiles. And construction equipment. And very physical play. All things I previously assumed were society-driven stereotypes seem to be hard-wired into his very being! We also play with dollhouses and have tea parties, but nothing will ever beat trains. My personal experience very much leans towards nature on this one, hard as I find that to believe. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Blogging Wondertime Magazine: Why Boys Love Trucks |

I'm either wrapping or putting items in stockings and santa sacks this year, but I'm planning on doing post-holiday shopping at fabric stores and second hand stores to find fabric we can re-use every year. Very excited about this idea :) Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | What Will Your Gifts Look Like? |

We don't have a yard any more, but when we did we used a reel mower for a few years. Our yard was largish -- over 1/4 acre -- and with lots of trees and not-nice grass so it took a long time, but it was great exercise! Then we splurged on a battery power electric mower. We had stayed away from electric for a long time because of the trees, but the battery solved that problem. It worked brilliantly and it's still going strong for my mom's small yard. That's funny, we had the opposite experience in Europe recently. Both my husband and I noticed that we were using way less toilet paper, specifically because my MIL had that super-plush toilet paper that I never buy because it's too expensive. Then we started pondering if it would end up cheaper because we don't need nearly so much? Apartment Therapy - Green Alternative to Toilet Paper? |
