Is this a joke? I'm pretty sure if I was a picky eater at "almost one," I wouldn't have been fed. I understand trying to do something specific for a birthday (and plum/pear cupcakes sound DELISH), but the rest of the year - be the boss.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned the obvious...

Hire a maid, wear what you want. Problem. Solved.

If I remember correctly, the Cascade bottle is green. But the soap itself is more of a blue color.

I would super glue a velco strip to the wall and stick the other side to your curtains.

Ummm weird. I didn't read this until this morning, but last night for dinner- we made meatloaf and put it in the fridge JUST so we could have meatloaf sandwiches right away. Haha!

I know my mother would flip her lid if she saw that you cut the back off of that chair!

Anyway, because the legs are mismatched, wouldn't this stool look rather awkward in any place not against a wall...or is that just me?

@ bubble:

I'm not saying I would consider eating anything from a human. Blood, flesh, hair whatever.

However, if Idid eat human blood, I would not fathom to say that I was eating meat.

Okay, I'm gonna take it there and its gonna be gross. But, to be fair, I warned you:

An unfertilized egg (which is what we eat) released by a chicken is basically its period.

So, unless you think sucking on a tampon classifies as "eating human meat," eggs are not meat.

She also cropped the cluttered fridge out of the picture, cleared most of the shit off the island, and changed her towels to plain white/blue.

I feel like this is one of those "Can you spot the differences?" games in a kids magazine...

I actually got them at a festival a few years ago... so, hit up something local like that? Or, if you are into making jewelry, you can buy the feathers and earring hooks at Michaels and make em yourself :)

Okay, I know this is going to sound crazy, and deadly, but Bacon Brownies are whats up.
The salty crunch in with the gooey chocolate...people can't quite put their finger on it, but something tastes so right it feels wrong.

Ahhh, finally, some recognition for this. I've always displayed my jewelry out in the open. See my earrings. Not only does it look pretty, but it makes things easier to find! Its perfect for organizing my collection and people comment on it all the time...and then ask to borrow earrings :D

For the rack itself, I actually used this shelf piece from an Ikea shelving unit, and just hung it on nails on the wall instead of the way its supposed to be used.

Also, any time any jewelry breaks, I glue the pieces onto this very dirty mirror so they still get to sparkle.

@ariellie - if you hang something high enough on the wall, its out of kitty range, although they do look at it longingly

@delafielder - if you don't have a ton of jewelry, things can look very pretty hung in something like this jewelry cabinet or on this tree. If I had few enough necklaces, I would do something like this... but alas, being a jewelry fiend has its pitfalls :)

Don't you love, love, love being able to say you painted that yourself? I see a lot of people use wall stickers (From Ikea?) and I always think--they could have painted that for way less and made it look more custom. Go you!

@jennifer119: I'm not being a bugger at all, I WAS inspired by this post, but ultimately, disappointed with the lack of actual "tips." AND, instead of just griping, I made a suggestion as to what I was hoping to find here.

In retrospect, I now title it my "How to Make a Constructive Complaint on an AT Post Hack."

How is this a hack? Give us something useful!

Like... how to build-in a bench that can be used as a reading nook and neatly store your books inside or something.

Telling me to go spend $500 to buy a chair, table, and lamp is hardly Hack-worthy advice. No matter how detailed your instructions and materials list.

I recently just left an apartment in an old building that had 2 tragic flaws I missed when looking at it:

- I fell in love with the antique claw foot tub, however, I didn't realize that having it made the shower head too short for my nearly 6 foot stature. I had to crouch for the entire length of my shower every single time I cleaned up. Not fun for me, or any of the other tall people who ever showered at my place. Also-- the hot water was VERY finicky, literally 1 millimeter more of a turn on the faucet was the difference between scalding and freezing... Now I will be sure to run both before making any decisions.

- Also, and I don't know how I missed this one: The outlets were all the old fashioned two-prong outlets. There was only ONE grounded outlet in the entire apartment. I had a very unsafe trail of extension cords/power strips throughout the whole place. Eeek!
