That is amazing! Curious about the budget for something like this. I love those floor to ceiling windows. Wish there was an exterior shot - curious what it looks like on the outside! Before & After: A 100-Year-Old Farmhouse Freshens Up The Sweeten |

I've made this twice now and it turned out great both times. I will say that if you are truly using a large cast iron skillet and you are a wuss like me, watch out, because it is difficult to pour boiling hot sugar from a super heavy skillet, as my t-shirt with hardened toffee all over can attest! I also found the butter and sugar took longer than expected to combine and required not just constant but vigorous stirring. All told this is a very easy, and popular recipe. I sprinkled sea salt on top of the chocolate this year. Yum! Holiday Treat Recipe: Skillet Toffee |

I got a set of mint in box souvenir Seattle World's Fair tumblers for 99 cents on Ebay (plus shipping, natch). The listing has spelling errors in it so I think it escaped notice. I believe they retail at a store in my neighborhood for something like $150, though that is probably on the spendy side. I love them! You Paid WHAT for That? Best Secondhand Finds Ever |

We used to keep bacon grease in a jar in the freezer. My boyfriend wasn't thinking once and poured HOT GREASE into the FROZEN JAR on the counter and it exploded all over me, my new sweater, the cabinets, etc. Now I put it in a cup or bowl until cool, scoop it with a teaspon into little heaps, freeze those, and store in a ziplock. It's a little more work, but more boyfriend proof. :) Tip: Store Bacon Fat in Glass, Not Plastic |

I LOVE my scale. It's awesome for baking (I also just tare out and measure all my ingredients in one bowl), portion control, splitting up bulk purchases into portions, curiosity, mail, etc etc. Survey: Do You Own (and Use) a Kitchen Scale? |

What about the coffee maker? Ours is stainless steel and I can't for the life of me make it look clean and shiny, though I guess that could apply to lots of appliances. Cleaning 101: Tackling Your Small Appliances |

I was co-hosting a going away party for a friend a couple weeks ago and she loves my Micheladas so I wanted to make those, but they are sort of time consuming to make one on one (all the muddling and whatnot). My original idea was to make them by the pitcher, but my boyfriend had the brilliant idea of just creating a seasoning mix to add to beers. So we filled a little bottle with all the fixings (bottled lime juice, soy sauce, Dimitri's, Worcestershire) and then I just had to squeeze a tablespoon or so of the mix into the bottom of the cup, and add ice, beer and a couple lime wedges for looks. Despite my hesitation about using bottled lime juice it turned out really good! Other people just started squeezing the mix into their beer cans. I too love oatmeal with savory fixings--salt and pepper and butter if I'm keeping it super simple, cheese (goat, a Laughing Cow wedge), and if I have a lot of time, sauteed mushrooms and onions! I also really like a toasted English muffin spread with hummus and topped with cucumbers. What Are Some Savory Breakfasts Without Eggs or Meat? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |
