I re-covered those ugly cushions and I think it turned out great. It was a pretty easy project and it was totally affordable for my budget. I posted about it here http://neurosesgalore.com/2010/05/04/rocker-restyle/ and http://neurosesgalore.com/2010/07/09/the-end-of-ugly-gliders/

We've used the Djeco mobile and the decals in our kids rooms. They are super cute. The best.

Yikes, yeah, chalk dust + bed = probably not a good idea.

I slid it into a little alcove to make a window bench. Love it.

We switched to a convertible seat around the time that our baby was 12 weeks. She wakes up every time the car stops anyway and the insert was so heavy to carry that I just couldn't see the point of it anymore. If she doesn't wake up when I stop the car then she's in a deep enough sleep for me to carry her in and put her down again. I did find it useful very early on however.

Sending your kids outside to study is an interesting idea but if your house has wi-fi you're likely to be able to access it in the yard too. What I'm really curious about it the drinks dispenser.

It was fun! Even if it did cause me a good bit of anxiety. :)

I recently bought a roll of self-adhesive laminating film that I used to repair an old children's book pretty successfully. I like the roll because it can accomodate odd shapes and sizes as opposed to the sheets. You could laminate the pages, re-punch the holes and then thread it back onto the binding.
