I don't know. I saw this and all I could think was: how did they really make this catalog? The homes featured are full of brand-new furniture and accessories that show zero wear and tear and that (more to the point) are ENTIRELY by Room & Board. Did the people get the brand-new furniture for free in exchange for appearing in the catalog? Are they even real people? It's clear that there's at least some level of artifice in how this is being portrayed, and that is distracting enough to me that I can't really just browse through it and enjoy it as I would a standard catalog.

My second thought was -- magazines have become catalogs (hello, Domino); now catalogs want to be magazines.

Gail,

I don't have any experience with the Triplo per se but I have looked at it in the Bo Concept store and found it to look pretty flimsy and cheap (especially for what they charge for it, which I can't remember any more, but at the time I remember thinking it just seemed really expensive for that level of quality).

My husband and I have a three-closet unit of the tall, shallow PAX from Ikea with mirrored doors and have been very happy with it.

For what it's worth.

hi there,

would it be possible to let people know if they haven't made it into the initial cut?

i'd much rather just be told up front if I'm not in contention than keep looking for my entry every day only to realize at the end that I was never going to be posted.

please advise! thanks!

Double park or park in front of a hydrant if there's one near the door you're loading into. I'm shocked by Eliza's moving company -- I can only guess they are not NYC-based? I've moved twice with Flat Rate and both crews took double/illegal parking for granted (nor did they get a ticket either time).

There are obscure rules about what constitutes "legal" parking anyway (obscure in my opinion at least). This past fall my husband and I rented a cargo van for a trip to IKEA. After unloading we parked it overnight at a meter on our street. The next morning we came downstairs to a $60 ticket for parking a commercial vehicle in that spot. Not sure how we were supposed to know this was a rule -- there are NO signs posted prohibiting commercial vehicles and heaven knows the rental place didn't warn us.

(And we're not newbies -- I've lived here 8 years, and my husband has been here 17. Though I guess it's not too surprising that we wouldn't know about parking rules, given that we are prototypical New Yorkers who rejoice in not owning a car and therefore not having to think about parking rules.)

My husband and I use a Tivoli iPal plugged into an Airport Express. This allows us to wirelessly stream our iTunes directly from either one of our computers. We can also plug our iPods into it with a cable if we want. And, the iPal has a radio so I can amp up the NPR when I'm washing dishes and it's hard to hear from the living room speakers.

Soundwise, I think the speaker sounds great (big sound from a little box) and the design is perfect with the iPod.

I can't remember how much the iPal cost but under $200... and the Airport Express is I think around $79.
