except that this looks JUST like the real one so I don't think it really compares to the plastic toy saws that the kid can tell the difference between a real burner and a fake one. imho.

This is really cool and i'm not usually one to leave safety comments but still. Doesn't this seem scary to teach your kids that it's okay to touch the red area of the burner because it's not hot on their play kitchen??? I'd be hesitant to have my little kids play with this-maybe an older child where I could explain the difference but by then, are they playing with kitchens anymore instead of helping you in the real one?

I actually was just looking at this room last night before you posted it on here! I LOVELOVELOVE the room and think it's a great space for a teenage boy. And knowing what I do about the family from reading their blog, he's an outstanding young adult who seems like the best big brother those girls could ask for. He deserves a room all his own...and the picture above the bed? I think it looks great! The long board adds a great punch of color. And it fits in well with the rest of the home with all the great photographs hung on the walls. As always, nice work Shawni!

The 71 toes? They have a little girl named Lucy who's their firecracker and love who's just extra special! :)

Yeah we did the pickle ornament when we were kids. Still do it now even though we're all older and a lot stronger. It's a big thing at our house, lol. No mercy for the girls or slower people.

Maybe it's just my husband's terrible DIY skills, but all I can picture is the star falling and hitting my baby-sharp end first. OUCH. And as long as it doesn't skewer anyone, it's actually really cute! :)

I was anti cloth diapers for a long time for the sole reason that people who cloth diapered were usually so aggressive about doing it. It was annoying to have to listen to them tell me all the reasons why I shouldn't be using disposables and how I was ruining the earth and whatever. Once they shut their traps and just let me look on my own and in my own time, I have switched over to the Bumgenius Elementals completely and have never looked back. I do it because it saves me so much money (especially since I bought them in excellent used condition) and that works for me. But I agree, people need to calm down about their opinions on them-and every other debate like this (natural birth for example). Cloth diapering will sell itself when people realize how much money they can save for a little bit extra work. :) And like you said, it's not like you don't ever use disposables on occasion. Great post!

I don't think any of these are essentials. Nice to have? Maybe on a few of them. Perhaps I just haven't pimped out my stroller enough.

And am I the only one that is bugged by this sentence? lol.

"By taking a look at the Best Selling, Top Rated and Most Gifted stroller accessories on Amazon and entering the top twenty entries from each category in a complex logarithm which accounted for regional bias and my own slightly warped sense of what is important in life, I came up with the following Essential Stroller Accessories"

I LOVE this room! Great job pulling such a small space into a fun nursery! Can I ask what paint colors you used? I'd love to do something similar for my boys' big boy room.
