I've made kouign amann with the recipe from chef eddy's blog and they turned out great. It's much easier than it looks, just requires time and patience.

If the barley was malted prior to a dark roast, that would be similar to drinking the wort of a dark beer recipe.

When I'm at home having a nice beer, I will always pour it into a glass, often my Spigleau stemmed pilsner glass (pretty much a tulip). Enjoying the appearance and aroma of the beer in addition to its taste is part of the experience of drinking a nice beer.

However, if I'm a guest at someone else's home or event, and beer is provided only in bottles, I'll drink it out of the bottle if I have to.

The salt adds adds a nice minerality to a gose to complement the sharp lactic tartness of beers. They're very refreshing though, perfect for warm weather.

I use those vacu vin stoppers as well for half consumed bombers/750's, though I don't use the pump with it as creating a vacuum will cause the beer to lose carbonation faster.

I think the only thing I purchased in Venice while I was there earlier this year was a small Murano glass trinket that didn't take up much space since I still had 10 more days traveling around Italy with a suitcase and a backpack that was pretty much full.

Clean as you go is a great tip. Also, prepare (clean, cut, measure, etc) all items for a recipe (mise en place) prior to starting.

I don't know if 120 minute IPA (over 11% abv, I think) from Dogfish Head is a good choice for a light summer beer. Maybe their 60 or 75 minute IPA, which is much lower abv.

I like to do this with salmon whenever I don't feel like searing. Almost always guarantees moist and fragrant piece of fish, and works with almost any combination of herbs and aromatics you might have on hand.

Can you brew by flipping it upside down? I used to have a thermos/tea brewer that I brewed tea with in that manner to keep the leaves submerged in the water. The small basket is a bit of a deal breaker for me since I do drink a lot of green tea that needs more room.

I spent 10 days in Sydney last year for vacation and enjoyed the very good Thai food, kangaroo (hopefully not overcooked), and Australian wine. A friend had me bring back all varieties of Tim Tams I could find at the time (seven different ones) as well... The lamington in the pic for this post is nice, if you like pound cake with jam covered in chocolate and coconut.
